Default subs = stealth box vs. ttop box

i was just wondering what you guys thought i want to get subs and wondered if i should go with the driver and passenger stealth boxes or the ttop box or a custom painted fiberglass box that would take up the whole ttop area but i wouldnt be able to use the ttop holders at all? i dont drive my car a lot usually not on the weekends because i work all weekend and i dont drive my car in the rain! just wondered what you thought i should go with and i dont care too much if i go with a 10" or 12" sub. thanks

you might be surprised what 1 10" can do with a good amount of power in a hatchback...

Are you wanting it real loud, just enough to fill in the bottom octaves, or something with a little kick?

I went with a single 10" Pioneer sub in the driverside but had the shop build a custom fenderwell box for it. I'm runnin a Zapco 350i amp to it & I think its plenty loud. The shop that did mine did a absolutely awsome job. there are no rattles, fitment is great & the bass is outstanding for a single 10" sub.

I have 2 stealth enclosures loaded with RE Audio SE10's and a RF Power Series amp. Bass output is more than sufficient for me, but it all depends on what you consider loud and what you want out of it.

I can't see any daily driver needing more bass than my one Fi Q12 in a stealthbox gives. With just a 250W amp (though it's probably doing more like 350-400W), it can easily hurt my ears and the sub itself can take 800W+.

my guess would be that he means like some of the boxes you can get like z-28 in the corner or other stuff like that sorta raised in the box... like by buddy has one in his camaro and it says z-28 with a bowtie after it in one of the corners on the slanting part

I think a IDQ10d2 V.3 would be a better choice then the JL10w6. Because for less money you get more xmax, and higher power handling and a great sounding sub! Or you could step up to a IDMAX10d2 V.3; thats what I just did with my passenger side subthump box.
And I'll soon have a IDMAX also in my driver side stealth box I ordered from KeeAudio.
Then you also have the option of replacing your whole rear seat with a custom box,or just one side of the rear seat. But that's only if you don't really use the rear seats.
Take your time and do the research, you'll be happier with choices.

Thumbs up TT Box

This is what I have in my car. I just think this set-up is the best. I believe it's more rigid & upgradeable to 12's if you wanted more bass.

w6v2 are some of the best subs for sound quilty and well putting them in a stealth box would kill sound quilty they would still be loud but for that you could be using a much cheaper sub
if you plan on having a good sounding system do a custom box in the t top area that will have the corret air space and porting and they will sound beatiful

i have a memphis m1 10 in a mtx thunderform stealth box and it can get really loud. the amp is a mtx thunder ta 3401 that is rated at 400 watts at 2 ohms but puts out 488 and is only turned to half gain and almost no boost and it is really loud and deep. im in to sound quality but some times like some bump and this works perfect. make shure you get a sub made for small sealed boxes. even the best sub will sound like crap in the wrong box.

IMO just get 1 driverside stealth box. I'm not too sure of what your future plans are for your car performance wise but if you plan on going with a nitrous setup, having a driverside stealth box will allow you to be able to store your bottle in the spare tire well. Although you could easily do the very same thing with a subthump T-Top friendly enclosure, you'll quickly get tired of having to remove your subs just to be able to access the bottle. Also, with a driverside stealth enclosure you'll be able to actually put stuff in that little trunk area we have whenever your T-Tops aren't stored in the back. Running two 12"s would be great but from my experience of once having two 12"s, there's no reason for two of them unless you're into DB Drag Racing or trying to have the loudest stereo system on the block which imo would be screaming "steal me". I just recently ordered a stealth enclosure from Ian at KEE Audio and I'm very happy with my setup. My setup consist of the following: Audiobahn AW1000V (10" sub), Audiobahn A4801T (Amp) and Audiobahn 1 Farad Digital Capacitor (people say they don't work but to each it's own because it works for me). I'll post some pics of my setup soon after I clean up the wiring setup a bit. Although my one 10" sub isn't as loud as the two AW1200N 12" subs I use to have, it still hits harder than you'd expect out of a 10" sub.
