Stock deck doesn't read burned cd!? I have a 2001 SS and when I download music and burn it onto a CD and try to play it in my car, I get an error message. Is this the cd player, or the cd? Is there a certain music file that works? I figure it's probably the cd player since I have a 2001 and maybe they weren't updated yet? What would you suggest I get for a cd player in the car that will read it? I have never bought an aftermarket cd deck or anything like that. Looking to burn some CDs for a road trip that I am taking and also for everyday use. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

The factory head unit is quite capable of reading CD-R (not CD-RW) discs that are burned as audio discs. It can't handle data discs such as MP3. Some brands of disc work better than others - I've had good results with Fuji, Verbatim, and Maxell. In general, CD-Rs work best in regular CD players such as in your car when they are recorded at between 8x and 12x regardless of what speed the recorder can handle.
I think since he said he downloaded them they are probbaly mp3's. If you are looking for a good deck then the Alpines and Pioneer Premier series are both pretty good and will play all music formats. Check out (non-sponsor link removed) they have some of the best prices I've seen.

If you're using itunes to burn it you might want to try using windows media player. I used itunes once and my g/f said they wouldn't play in her accord. I've always used WMP but I just tried itunes that once because I had just got an ipod. I just drag them from itunes to WMP and use that to burn them.
