Default Kee Audio I need some speakers

Ian,

I have just replaced my head unit with pioneers DEH-9800BT. I have a blown sail panel speaker and i feel it is time for an update on all the speakers. My car is a 2000 camaro with a monsoon and I am going to stick with the stock amp. I feel I don't need anything out of this world just a few good quality speakers. So what do you have that you could recommend? Also I know your major product is CDT, is their any stores that you know that happen to carry this product that I could hear?

Hi, CDT is out of California. Only a privately owned shop would have them as they are a smaller company. You may find someone near you that has a pair you could listen to on a car audio website possibly if no one has them in any of your shops. They are handmade audiophile speakers.
I do carry others as well but those are the best I carry currently.
For your application the CL-61CV would be a good choice for the doors. These wire exactly like stock and work fine with the stock Monsoon. They are available for $149.00.
To compliment these I have the CL-6 midwoofers for $129.99 for the sails. Both of these speakers can handle anything the Monsoon can dish out!

It doesn't hurt to use the forum to ask these types of questions. Everyone has their own unique requirements out of an audio system and Ian's responses provide insight into what's available and works well with our cars - so others might find the responses interesting.

With that said, once the available options have been discussed, any order or shipping conversations should be taken to PM. But I haven't seen that being too much of a problem.

Yea I don't mind people making these threads. I like to read them so I don't have too bother Ian with something that has already been asked.

Ian thanks for the reply. Hopefully in March you will hear from me, I just really need to hear a speaker before I buy them. They may sound great to others and horrible to me. With that said I live in the Union County area of NJ anyone that has a pair of CDT speakers that I could listen to, that would be very helpful. I will stop off at a couple of small local stores around me hopefully I will come across some.

x2Jeese1x I tried to PM him but my PM are not being sent out and I have posted the complaint in the proper section on this forum and I have received no reply yet. For your information I went that way first until I released the two PM's I sent out over a two week period he was not receiving and until I can find a fix for this I will have to ask my questions this way. If you do not like reading posts like this do not click on the three posts with almost identical titles because they probably contain the same information.

Kee, what else do you have for the fronts for a Camaro w/ Monsoon? Mine are dying off, rattle w/ bass, etc. Do you carry something more reasonable with decent sound?

One last thing the best location for, I think it is called a crossover I probably am wrong but would it mount right next to the speaker on the door or in a remote location?

If you stay with the stock Monsoon amp then no additional crossover is needed (or advisable). The amp already has filtering built-in.

I wouldn't throw it away - you may decide to put in an aftermarket amp at a later date.

With the Camaro using the aftermarket crossover is not necessary.
Rhedalert, for the Camaro owner looking for a really nice replacement speaker that doesn't break the bank but sounds great and has alot of features normally found on higher end speakers, I recommend the Powerbass 3XL. It features a kevlar composite cone structure, silk dome tweeters, rubber butyl surround, and a real passive crossover network (not a little capacitor). They are also a 3ohm speaker with 90dB of sensitivity, this more closely matches the stock impedance. The 3XL also can handle 85watts RMS and 170watts peak power. You'll never have to worry about the Monsoon overpowering these speakers. Wiring these into the stock Monsoon is also made very easy due to the exposed wiring on the rear for easy access. I have these for $89.99 shipped right now also!
