Exclamation Help! Need a battery

Installing my new stereo equipment today, got almost everything setup, went to disconnect the positive terminal from the battery, and it just fell off, no effort what-so-ever. Battery is screwed, and there's some acid that dripped off.

I put a bunch of baking soda all over, but I have a few questions.

What brand and possibly model # battery is a direct fit with the stock battery? Side post, able to be secured at the bottom, CCA (or better than stock)

Secondly, what the hell should I do about the acid? I'm going to check it out after I get a battery. I have to assume that it ate through some paint. Should I sand it down and spray some POR or something on it?

I went with the red top Optima in mine. It is sufficient for my needs and would work with your system as well. Yellow top is an option as well. I also used to use Bosch batteries with very good success. They are a very good battery and use them in my other vehicles.

Most auto parts stores sell Delco batteries, which will be an exact fit in the battery tray.

They have improved the batteries since our stocks were delivered and you'll get more CCA with the Delco replacement.

Bought me a red top. I thought the redtops were more expensive than the yellow.. I thought I read somewhere that someone said the redtop is "unneccessary" or something?

So I guess yellow is "better" than the red given how much more expensive it was

I just replaced my 7yr old red top with the yellow top; it'll handle a deep discharge a lot better then the red top. Still the red top is a really good battery IMO.
