Default What to Use: Bolting Down Enclosure...

I have this subthump enclosure that keeps falling out of place within a minute of driving (normal driving) and I NEEd to bolt it down for long term use.

Here is a pic:

I am going to get some L brackets and use wood screws for the part that will screw into the enclosure, but I was wondering what kind of screw/locks/washers to use for the part of the bracket that will screw into the metal of the car. I obviously won't be able to locate the underside of where the screw goes through the metal, so I need to know what I need/how to use what screws etc that will not come loose etc.

Thanks.

I just used some 1/8"scrap flat stock cut to size and drilled some holes ,and gave it a shot of black paint. Then I pre-drilled my mount holes in the bottom front of the box and put a dab of glue on the screw holes and mounted the brackets .Once you got the brackets mounted slide the box back in and scribe the holes where you are going to put your sheetmetal; I used 1" screws after making a small hole for the screws to get started in. I just used a old ice-pink and hammer to make the starter holes,or pull the box back out an use a drill, whatever you're comfortable with!.Finally make sure and put a big dab of Silcone sealant over each starter hole you made in the sheetmetal, tighten the screws down and your done!

Self tap metal screws will work. The kind with the hex head. Can't remember off hand what size but I know it takes a 5/16 nut driver bit. Makes quick work of it without having to predrill holes. They are also strong enough to hold that enclosure down without worry.

I was told the following from Steve @ SubThump:

If you see the bracket that accepts the plastic PS rear interior panel fastener in the corner of your hatch (right above box) - drill a hole (or use existing hole) to attach drywall screw thru and into the box. I know this will hold the rear of the box well - the PS plastic interior panel will hold the front in place.

Did you cut the PS panel leaving a reveal around the box? Once installed, this edge on the panel will surround the box, and when the rear cargo hatch cover is installed, it should press the interior panel against the box and hold it in.
