Newbie looking for some stereo advice.
Ive not long had my 93 Trans Am, i live in the UK and its the first American car ive had, thankfully its the one ive always wanted.
Got a bit of a stupid question to ask about the stereo setup in the TA.
Ive looked around some of the threds but couldent see one which answered my question, bare with me im not all that clued up on stereos.
Got the car with a cheap crap aftermarket stereo fitted, wiring block cut off with the wires crimped straight to stereo wires. Took it out and fitted my lovely Pioneer head unit.
Ive got the 10 speaker setup in the car, noticed that there are speakers in the sail panels but they were not working, thought i could just tap them of the rear speakers but have realnised from looking around this forum that they are subs!!
There is wiring in place for them, but cant see where they run to.
Checked the area where the amp should be by the spare wheel and there aint one??
Question is, is there anyway i can get the subs hooked up and working? And where does the wiring for them go to, the area where the amp should be?
Thanks
Paul
The amp takes speaker-level input just like the Monsoon so installing an aftermarket HU is just like in most any other car - mount it, wire it to the factory harness, and turn it on. The factory sub part number is 16193551 (same for both sides). Hopefully, the connectors are still there.

Ive installed the HU with what i could see i needed to use of the factory wiring harness. Eg: Batt, Ignition, ground, front and rear speaker connections.
Since the connector had been cut off i used a haynes manual to locate the correct wires.
Not sure how to get the amp to work when i find it, my thoughts/hopes are the amp will have audio connectors white/red? that i would hook up to my Head units sub output? But would that be the only connection i would need to make to the amp? How does it get power? Does it power from the HU?
Confused!!
Thanks for the help, and paticence im a complete novice when it comes to car audio, never had amps and subs but if my cars got them i want to use them!.
Thanks

No, there will be no red/white RCA connections that you can connect to the sub output of your head unit. It takes ONLY speaker-level input from the head unit. It then processes and amplifies that signal before sending it to the speakers (all of the speakers except for the tweeters). The amp filters the outgoing signal for only bass frequencies on the channels that go to the sail panel subs. Other than that, it doesn't treat the subs any differently than any of the other speakers. If the subs aren't working it's because they're blown, disconnected, or damaged in some way.

Ill have a check behind the sail panel to see whats there tomorrow.
So hopefully i should just see 2 connectors unplugged from the amp if im lucky. Be good to get them working.
Never thought it would be as simple as that to get the amp to work. Thought there would be a connection at the HU end i haddent seen or diddent have.
Cheered me up.
Heres hoping
Thanks
