Trans Am DVC sail panels subs now available!!
Alright guys I have been searching for a quality replacement that is affordable for you Trans Am/Firebird owners that have the dual voice coil sail panel subwoofers. I now have a product from Bazooka that look and sound great!! Check them out as I have a group buy going on for them. The next 5 or more orders I get for these I will offer them at $99.00 a pair shipped within the continental U.S.
These DO require a 1/2" spacer for a 6.75" speaker just like the Elemental Design sub.
Here's the link with the pics!!

How do these compare to the CDT Midbass Drivers (other than the price is lower of course), have you compared the quality of the sound between the two?
These are PnP - how easy to wire in the CDT's to a Monsoon system?

The main difference between the 2 are that the T/A subs are dual 4ohm voice coils and the CDT's are 4ohm single voice coil. The CDT's sound great. They do lose some low end volume because they are 4ohm and SVC. They do however make up for this with excellent sound quality and superior power handling capabilities. Basically if you had a new pair of stock speakers and a pair of the CDT's side by side, the stocker would be louder at lower volume than the CDT. When you start to turn the volume up the CDT would start to "catch up" and would surpass the stocker because you would have to stop turning the volume up on the stockers due to distortion and loss of sound quality.
The Bazooka is alot more like the stock sub in that it exactly matches the stock design (DVC). That's where the similarities end though. The Bazooka has a much beefier magnet, larger voice coil, better cone structure/design, hits lower frequencies than the CDT (Bazooka 39-1500Hz vs. CDT 50 ~ 5000 Hz) although the CDT has more range, the Bazooka is really a subwoofer more than a midbass driver.
The CDT's are just as easy to install, you would just use one pair of the wires going to the sail panel sub vs. both pairs. This would then match the 4ohm impedance of the CDT. The Bazooka's would take full advantage of the stock Monsoon amps dual voice coil format. Thus they should perform VERY well. I have not heard these yet side by side though as my car does not have 6.5" subs in the sails anymore nor do I have a 6.5" opening anymore. Mine are 8" CDT EF-8's in the sails ran by aftermarket power. Total overkill and I do not recommend this mod. Not that it doesn't work or sound great....it is just pure overkill and could probably be duplicated with a nice 6.5" driver.
