Dash Alarm Light??? This might be in the wrong forum someone move if thats the case.
Anyways, I was reading through my manual about the programming mode on our cars and about how to program everything. I began to recall that my alarm light on the dash doesn't work and I was wondering if it was because my alarm was in the "off mode?" Or maybe my red bulb is just burned out. Any one have any ideas about what to do about this? I searched but I didn't find any good info.

Go though the programming steps and see if it's programmed off. The "theft deterrent arming method" option is how you turn the alarm on and off. When you go to that programming section the number of chimes will tell you if it's off or not (a single chime indicates the alarm is off).

If you enabled alarm arming through programming and then locked the car with the remote, it should make the red LED on top of the dash flash. You can check if the alarm is really armed by setting it and then opening the door using the key (without using the remote). The horn should honk and the parking lights should flash. If not then there's some problem with the alarm arming rather than with the indicator LED.

I'd still try setting the alarm and then opening the door with the key - you never know if there might be something wrong with the alarm system in the BCM and it's an easy test.

The BCM is the Body Control Module. It's responsible for controlling body related circuits such as the keyless entry/alarm, power locks, hatch release, audible warnings, and retained accessory power. They seldom break down. I would double check all your programming including alarm arming, keyless entry verification, and alarm verification before suspecting the BCM was faulty.
It may seem obvious but the first question is do you really have a factory alarm or just keyless entry? When you first enter programming mode you should hear two chimes if you have the alarm but only one if you have just keyless entry. You can also look for option code UA6 on your door sticker.
