BCM Bypass and wire clean-up
BCM Bypass and wire clean-up I'm trying to remove all unnecessary wiring on my 1999 Camaro. Currently all HVAC, power steering, stereo, and power brakes have been removed and don't care about remote entry. I've also disabled the VATS through HP Tuner.
I assumed I could bypass the BCM entirely at this point but when I disconnect the BMC it will not crank. What wires are a must???

You can't completely disable VATS using HP Tuner. HP Tuner only programs the PCM but it is the BCM in our cars that controls the VATS system and the starter relay (the BCM is not programmable).
You will have to provide an independent ground for the starter relay since the BCM would normally do that after it was satisfied that the correct key was in the ignition. This is a simple matter of grounding the yellow with black wire.

Thanks for your response WB, just to clarify...prior to BCM. Splice (both?) black wires and the one yellow wire, twist together, ground to chassis?

No, actually it's just one wire that is yellow with a black tracer (stripe) on it. Just ground that wire to any convenient ground - either a metal surface or tap into one of the black wires.
