Default New Ideas and Opinions?

I am selling the current set up I have in my sig to a friend of mine, and was wanting some ideas and opinions on a new set up. This current set up was great...138.1 dB, all while spending around 1000 for brand new stuff...but its giving me problems. I used to have my sub setting on my deck (alpine 9847) at 10 of 15, and my bass at -7 of -7 to +10 at 120hz. For some reason, my amps are going into safety mode alot when pushed, and now so they wont cut out I have my sub setting at 0. Still hits good, but with such heavy subs, and little power....I said **** it and am selling it.

So now, I am looking at getting a new set up. Would like to see around 125+ dB when pushed, but clean sounding. Light weight is the main thing I'm looking at, and just 1 nice amp to go with it. Would not like to spend to much money, but if the price is right for the quality, I'm fine with it. Looking at maybe Kicker cvx, or infinity reference, or possibly audia brama (sp?? heard good things...but never heard in real life). I'm open to all suggestions, regarding everything. Would also like good amp choices, and impedence matching between two different companies, or just a good match between amp and sub combo would be nice. Thanks all.

keep your old stuff till u hear the new setup! it really sux to spend money and accidentally downgrade. i had the protection problem on an amp of mine a while back, it turned out to be the wiring i think the ground had a bad connect not really sure as i rewired the whole thing

I never changed anything as far as amps are wired, and subs. I've had to take the stuff out a few times, but I never actually re-wired ****. And I am looking to kinda downgrade lol. I would like my car to be less weight...but I love my system...so I want decent bass, light weight...but not so much bass as to I can't see straight, or my ears start to vibrate and hurt like mad.

Also...I'm looking at gettting a radar dector. Looking at the escort passport 8500 x50 and also their cordless one. What I figured on their website is that the cordless one isn't quit as good as the 8500 series. If I get the 8500, how hard is it to hardwire the system to the engine and ECU....so it comes on automatically when I start the car, and so it looks alot cleaner.

I would like a 9500i or the valintine 1 radar...but I don't want to spend quit that much money. Other options? I don't want cobra either....they are decent, but I dont really want to low ball my radar.

8500 deff works better then solo s2. i recently made the change myself. I always had the solos2 hardwired in my car but liked i oculd take it in other cars. to hardwire so it comes on and off with the car is extremely easy to do

What don't you like about the x50? I'm just trying to get opinions on everything. I would love a v1 or 9500....95 becuase of the GPS and whatnot, except for in bad weather, it would suck. I am thinking about dishing out 400 for the v1, but I mean...If the difference between the 8500 and the v1 aren't that large, I'll just go with the 8500.

It doesn't tell me "There's a cop up ahead." It tells me "Look at that cop radaring you!"

LOL. That sucks. for 300+, you would think it worked a little better then that. Or do the cops in your area just have better equipment.

Once in a great while it gives me an advance warning of more than 1-2 seconds if I'm on a flat road, etc. But yes, I expected better for the price.

Maybe I'll just dish out the 400 for the v1..idk, I'm still open to suggestions. But also, any ideas on decent, not to expensive subs? Low weight, matched with a good amp. Trying not to spend more than 500 on two 12's and an amp.
