Well, the only QAA1000 amp I know of is a mono amp so you couldn't use that to power your doors and sail panels. Are you sure that's the model or is it one from somebody other than MB Quart?

The device the audio shop is referring to for connecting the amp is a LOC (Line Output Converter). It converts the speaker level signal coming out of the factory head unit to pre-amp (line) level for input to your amp. You can get a LOC at any audio shop or even Wal-Mart for just a few dollars.

Your speaker selection is one that is often recommended for use with the factory amp because they closely match the OEM setup. With an aftermarket amp, your options are much wider. It really depends on what you want to achieve. If you want decent sound that's a step above the factory setup then those speakers connected to the factory amp and wiring will be quite an improvement. If you want to start building a really top notch sound system then the Bazookas in the sail panels may not be the best choice (the CDTs are still a good door speaker either way).

The MB Quart QAA1000 is a mono block 4-channel amp that does 1000W. Initially my thoughts were all stock setup with Bazookas, hatch speakers that are there and a good door set of components but everyone is saying nothing will work well in the door on Monsoon power in a component set. So with the stuff I have laying around I was thinking of just adding the amp and doing good door stuff off the stock HU.

I think that's a little contradictory. A mono amp is a single channel. Like Whitebird said, not for door speakers. That amp does 1000Wrms x 1 @ 2/4ohms.

It's currently in my Honda but I am using only two channels as the rear Focals checked out long ago.

I have the 4250. It is a mono-block 4-channel not the 1000 version single channel. One I have... I didn't label it right:

I'm running my CDT components in the doors (and the eD subs in the sail panels) off the stock Monsoon amp and I'm very pleased with the sound. Mind you, I'm an old fart so I don't run it as loud as I used to in my younger days, but it still gets loud enough sometimes that my wife can hear me coming from down the street. The sound quality is a vast improvement over stock (that's with an aftermarket head unit...ymmv).

In your case, I would recommend starting with the speaker upgrades and see how you like it. If you want more bass, add the stealth box and amp. If you find you need more power, you can always add an aftermarket amp later.

So I won't bother anyone for a bit. Just ordered the last pieces from Kee (CL-6's by CDT) for the doors. Going to try this first as my setup:

- CL-6's and TW-25 silk tweets by CDT in the doors on stock HU/Monsoon
- Bazooka 6.5" subs in sails on stock HU/Monsoon
- Kappa replacement hatch speakers that were installed pre-me
- Resonant Engineering SE-10" in Stealth box powered by Hifonics 1606D

Then if it doesn't sound decent enough I will amp the fronts and/or possibly change the HU.

For sure I will. Good or bad! I am kind of spoiled with the setup in my Honda so nothing short of a killer setup may give me that warm and fuzzy. Honda's setup:

- Eclipse CD5000 HU
- CDT M-6's in the doors, HD-52's in the Q-Form kicks with TW-25 tweets and also TW-25 tweets in the factory door pods powered by the QAA4250 (200W per side)
- Two FI-Q 12" subs in a sealed box with Hifonics 2006D (1000W per)

Had top of the line Focal 6x9's running as rear fill off the QAA4250 too but they broke several times. I need to take them out and swap the M-6's I have in there.

Q12 is great, isn't it? I run one in my stealthbox. It could use a little more airspace but it's not too bad even in the small box.

I love mine! I tore up a IDMax 12 and didn't want to go that route again. The FI's take a beating just like the RE's.

I heard the cdt's in a camaro 2day! They sound great i really like them... i wouldn't pick them over the kappa's though. the kappa's sound absolutely nothin like they did in the showroom which is good imo. but looks like you've purchased the cdt's, still a very good choice
