Default Is this headunit worth it?

I realized the monsoon has to go.

How is this for a replacement?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1197074853937

I have 250$ gift certificate at bestbuy but im debating using it all on this.

I have 2 12'' jl audio 12w3's in the trunk
I plan on replacing at least the door speakers and possibly the pillar ones too. I do not plan on getting a 4channel amp, i will either go un-amped or use the monsoon amp.

Looks like a pretty nice deck. My advice is to go to the store and play with the HUs. The last thing you want is to buy one and hate it later. Check them out in the store. I wouldn't say you'd be disappointed with a pioneer, though. Best Buy also carries Alpine, which is really nice, too.

except in the looks (IMO of course) and the fact that if you want to be able to change the volume, you need an extra $50 accessory. If you want to be able to turn it on and off, that's another $75.

This is one of the HUs I was looking at when I was shopping around. Personally, I went with Alpine so it could match the interior lighting. I hope you don't get it installed there at Best Buy, it is expensive as hell. I would give Kee Audio a holla.

My debate is that, seems a bit pricey, a lot of the extra stuff i wont use like the ipod support, bluetooth, etc. I just use mine for radio, cd, aux input, rca output, and would maybe like mp3 support for cds. I just want 50x4 output and good quality sound. An equalizer is always nice too.
Seems like im getting 100 features i dont need.

What exactly is HD radio btw, worth getting support for it?

Then don't get the 6000. Pioneer has several models below it. HD Radio is a little higher quality than analog AM/FM, not as good as XM but doesn't cost money monthly. The station selection is generally decent these days, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a necessity.

This one catches my eye: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1197074854142
Along with a few others.

I don't understand the color selection on these things, I am wondering how well it will look in a stock, clean interior t/a. (only modifications are a pistol grip, and dual gauge pod). The rest of the lights are red.

It seems almost all the good headunits at bestbuy at least use blue lighting or green and I dont think it will match at all.

Ask the folks at Best Buy or look online, but I had an Alpine a few years ago that changes button colors from green to an amber/red color. I like that for matching the red lights in my grand prix I had.

If you're using a HU for basic stuff, why upgrade?

use the monsoon amp it would have be a loss and time consuming to bypass it

i dont think they offer anything that will be a real good fit for your sail (pillar) speakers unless they can get the new bazooka DVC in

Upgrading for sound quality and loudness. The monsoon absolutely sucks and its blown a couple speakers.

You're not going to gain much, if any, quality by switching HUs.

So basically you need a fairly nice HU without all the bells and whistles.

fyi you will eventually be using the ipod support, i love mine and i thought the same thing as you. Try looking at other hu's like panasonic as well, i have one and it is amazing and looks very clean. I really like the look of that hu too, very smooth and clean looking and has the output you want. Look at jvc (the more pricey ones) theyre good hu's too.

If you need me to check anything out for ya , I work at bestbuy and can check a certain deck out for ya , or take a pic of one .. let me know man

btw, Alpine decks match the red perfect, i had a CDA-9885 deck in my t/a and the red was dead on, i replaced it however with the avic-d3
