how many voice coils wont effect how it sounds. theres no difference (in your application) between 2 4ohm DVC subs or 2 2ohm SVC subs. both will be wired in parallel for a 1 ohm load.

ID's are up there as one of the best but you will pay for it. If money is no problem two of those will shake your hair and have great SQ. I miss mine! I put it just a tad above a FI-Q in SQ but not the output. ID's fry pretty easily!

ID's are based on a pretty old motor... Good SQ yes, but like you said, not very powerful, terrible Xmax, bad BL curve. A bit expensive for the output levels you get, IMO. I'd pretty much never buy ID over a Dayton Reference.

BL Curve should look like /¯¯\ whereas most speakers are just /\ (Well, rounded off, but...)

im thinking about just going with svc memphis pr 12's. 600 watts for them should be plenty and my escalade has a dual 10 subthump under seat box and i have 2 m class 10's in there with a memphis 500 whatt 1 channel and it can get loud enough and the box only has .5 of air space for each sub so im thinking 2 12's in a box twice the size should be loud enough and i wont have to wire my amp to 1 ohm so less strain on it.
the good thing about the shop i go to where i live is i can trade in any thing i buy to him and he will give me close to what i paid and now i have a memphis m1 10 that was in my stelth box and it got really loud but i wanted a dual 12 subthump box so im going to trade the m1 for what he has in the store and he has most of memphis audios line.

subs have their own space requirement, just because one sub of certain power handling works good in one space doesnt mean another of more power will work better in the same space. Each sub has its own individual needs. Some 10's like .5 or less others .5 or more

Dude! How much power ( or lack of )are you running that you're frying IDs easily? Are you talking about IDs older stuff?

I'm running 2 ea. IDMAX10 D2 V.3 (1000 watts rms) each in their own stealth box; powered by a MMATS D2000.2 with no problems, and it sounds great!

But, I probably would of bought some FI-Qs if I'd known about them before I bought my IDMAX10s.

Oh it was about 1000 real watts continuos. I probably don't play mine like you do. It isn't for short bursts! The VC winding started to smoke so I had to back down on power. I litterly play my stuff sometimes all the way up for close to an hour so they have to take abuse I drove yesterday to White Marsh about 45 minutes away on I-95 with my two FI-Q's cranking the entire time on 2000W. When I got there amp was not really warm and subs were only marginally warm (like amp). Why I won't run a Max again. Their tech guy even said they don't like to have over rated power.

Take it easy on the eardrums Intercooler2....lol
Yeah, I usually don't crank it up for any longer than 20 minutes max; I don't want to be deaf by the time I'm 50...LOL
So I guess the means my max 10s won't last to long after I get my MMATS D3500.05 delivered in the next week.

It was nice out yesterday so with the windows down and the sunroof open it takes cranking it to get that feel. I know I am killing myself though! At times I get ear stuff going on. The system I am putting in the TA is tuned down a little. Two FI-Q 12's in a Civic is a little nuts.

My one Fi Q12 in my stealthbox powered by probably 350 watts or so (JL 500/5, which is way underrated) does quite well already, I say. My Rainbow woofers up front, on the other hand, get too hot too easily. I haven't blown them yet, but there have been several times where I have smelled the epoxy and turned it down.

Well for a daily it is hard to beat. I have almost 78k miles on it and have gotten 45 MPG with the 1.7 V-Tec on the highway. Other than door lock actuators I haven't had to do a darn thing other than gas, oil, trans fluid changes. Still on original brakes but plan on doing the fronts at 80k miles and timing belt/tune-up at 100k miles. Good then for another 100k. No leaks, rattles or noise.

The hybrids shine in the City. I think people are misled. Unless you do mainly 90% City driving you aren't going to see the benefit. Many gas models will get near hybrid highway MPG if you keep the speed/rpms down. Mine at 2700 RPM and 65 MPH will pull 45 on the highway. I get 31 MPG in the City so a hybrid will eat my lunch but I can also take a Prius from light to light LOL! I drive about 70% highway so going hybrid doesn't make dollar and cents to me. Beach trips I will take the TA and it has shown me 26 MPG at 70 MPH so that is real good.

I think you're right about the hybrids. My TA got 25mpg going to PA at about 75, but that's the best i've got. My other ride is a silverado 1500 getting like 15-17mpg, OUCH!

Remember the CRX? Honda had 50/50 MPG back in the 80's so hybrids are really not the Cats Meow:
