Default Which Deck? Need opinions!

I'm thinking about putting an aftermarket HU in my TA and I'm starting to narrow down the choice. Key features I want are: Bluetooth, ipod interface, 4V+ pre-outs, and a decent display. I also like motorized faceplates, though they don't seem as popular as they were a few years ago. Of course, a red display would be nice. Here are my choices . . .

JVC Arsenal KD-ABT22: Has all the features except for the right color buttons and motorized face. I don't care for how small they made the track forward/back buttons, either.

Eclipse CD3200: Seems to have all the things I'm looking for, including the motorized face and button colors. I've heard that the display isn't as nice as the old OEL ones, though.

Alpine CDA-9886: Doesn't change the button colors and no motorized face, but everything else. I've heard from some friends in the industry, though, that they've had some trouble with Alpine the last couple years.

Pioneer Premier DEH-P700BT: No color change, no motorized face, and VERY basic looking display. Not sure if I care for the look, either.

Pioneer DEH-P7900BT: Motorized display, but no button color and is a year old model. Looks better, IMO, than the new ones and has OEL display. I'm not sure if there were any big improvements in the bluetooth or ipod interface from last year to this year, though.


Let me know what you guys think. If anyone has another suggestion, please throw it out there. Another key feature for me is the ability to pair the player with a steering wheel control adapter besides the SWI-X. I don't want to mess around with the LED again. Thanks.

Well I used to have an Alpine CDA-7894 and loved it, but I've heard from some that they aren't as good anymore. I'm not quite sure I can roll without any cd player for the IDA-X100, either. It's definitely a sweet looking deck, though.

What do you need a cd player for? Do you have an ipod? If so,you don't need a cd player.. That Alpine is sweet,I almost went with it myself before I got this.. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...=3&tp=75&avf=N

Plus that IDA-X100 only has 2V pre-outs.

yeah, that's one of the main drawbacks i have about that unit, other than the HUGE freakin' volume ****.....they should have made the **** about 1/3 the size it is now, moved it all the way to the left, and made the display larger, IMO.

Alpine CDA-9855. I've had mine for over a year now and still works like a champ!



I think it looks 2 cool the way the overhead UV LEDs reflect off the deck at night.

id go with the alpine. ive numerous different decks and alpine IMO is the best for the buck

Here's another question . . . Does anyone know which of these players keep the ipod click wheel controls while it's plugged into the HU? That's something I like. My girl likes to play with the ipod while we're driving and I don't want to have her leaning in and playing with the HU all the time to do it.

if i recall all of them force control from the radio, unless you get a diff cable that gives you control from the ipod but then you loose radio control

GRRRR! ARE THEY F-ING STUPID!!?!?!?! It's not impossible to design one that uses both. My isimple uses both with the factory radio. Looks like Aux input might be the way to go.

I think the 700 looks the best by far, but I have it (the 7000 really, but same thing other than warranty) and it's a bit of a pain to control.

Hatch,I don't really think,they are thinking about kids controlling the thing. My Kenwood DDX-512 is supposed to control the ipod,but my old click wheel ipod you can control without using the deck. My iphone doesn't even work with it..There are some out there that have the feature.

Actually, I was talking about my girlfriend. LOL! Don't have any kids.

But anyway, they should be thinking about what their customers want. I know lots of people who feel the same way I do.

I'm not sure that I agree that it looks better, plus I'm not sure if I can get past the primitive screen on it. Can you post a pic or two of it in your dash?

Your killing me..LOL Honestly,I have no desire you use the ipod,but I don't normally have passengers.If a passenger wants to hear something just tell me..But on my stereo they can just touch the screen to find what they want,which would be more fun for me..

eh... may be I'll get around to it in a week or two. The interior of my car is rather disassembled right now....

my buddy had a newer alpine and his started skipping on every little bump. Than my other friend had an alpine and it did the samething. Eclipses are imo the best. But also pioneer

Eclipse is really good and 2 of the 3 players I have are Eclipse (older models), but their newest couple of generations are just far too ugly for me.
