Default Alpine Type R or Kicker L7
I have a friend that works at best buy and can get me a 10" Alpine Type R for around 95 dollars i think it was. I can probably find a new L7 on amazon/ebay for around 160ish. These would both be 4ohm.

My question would be what sub does everyone prefer? If it's the kicker, is it worth the extra money?

The Kicker will be louder when powered properly but the the Type-R will have better SQ. Do you already have an amp?

Type R will sound better for sure. I have two in my SS.

Kickers you can here the cone flex, it has some mechanical sounds.
The Alpine does not. Alpine has my vote!

No, I don't have an amp yet. I will probably go with the Alpine over the kicker. I was thinking the Alpine mrd-m500.

That would do it. That amp is 500rms @ 2ohms, right?

all type r's are dvc subs. i say go with a dual 4ohm dvc type r and wire it to 2 ohms and get the mrd m500 amp and it will sound really good and clean.

well my l7 is dvc wired to 2ohm with a 500watt rms jl audio amp and it hits hella hard. Its in a steatlth box from subthump and most people dont belive its only 1 10". As long as you power it right both will work for you. But from what ive heard locally square subs hit harder but round sounds better, hope that helps.
