could i be able to fit 6 x 8's in the doors and rear panels without too much of a pain?

has anybody done it and how easy is it? i have $400 into the two sets that were in the stang.

In the sail panels, no prob, just some cutting of metal. In the doors, Im gonna say it be a bit of a pia.

Do yourself a favor and sell them. Then get the right speakers for the car. I realize you already have those in your posession but why hackup your car getting something to fit when you could simply sell what you have and buy the right speakers with the money from that. I'm sure there are a bunch of Mustang guys that would buy them.
When you bought speakers for your Mustang you bought 6x8" speakers because they were the right fit correct?? Why wouldn't you do the same for your Firebird?!
Take your time and do it right the first time. You did with your stang, give your Firebird the same courtesy.
Good luck!!

also the 6.5's dont handle as much wattage as the 6x8's i have. 90 RMS v. 75 RMS when i am pushing 110RMS. that was part of the issue. they are infinity kappa's and one set of perfect's.

replace them with polks. and 6.5s sound better than 6x8 anyways. the shape isnt good for sound of the 6x8. go to an audio shop and listen to the same speakers 6.5 and 5x7 r 6x8 and the 6.5 are noticeably better.

also, that 110 rms would be if you cranked the amp and radio settings all the way up. speakers blow more from distortion than being overpowered, unless you are sitting in a parking lot trying to hear the music loud from outside...

i actually prefer the sound of the kappa 6 x 8's to their 6.5's (my friend had those in one of his trucks). i will mess around with the rear to accomidate the 6 x 8's and put those polks up front.

i was thinking of picking up a pair of db6501 components.

u can deff fit em with minimal work front and back. ditch the oem baffle up front and make a new one and u mgiht have to cut a little of the panel but its doable

if u got em use em, but with that said i have db6500 in 2 cars and the newer 6501 in another car and love em
