Along with other obvious reasons, the flat plane crank in many Ferraris is partially responsible for the insanely awesome sound and high-RPM power. Yes, they’re a DOHC motor and an LS isn’t, but Lingenfelter is using the same technology in their 358 CI LS-powered 5th. Gen Camaro race car. It not only sounds amazing and spins to 9,000+ RPM, but it also hauls the mail with 8-second passes.
Have a look at the videos and listen to the unique sound of the flat-plane crank motor that’s rather high-pitched compared to a standard LS motor–dare I say it sounds Ferrari-esque? Whatever you want to call it, I call it stunning! And who’s to argue with a 9,000 RPM LS motor?
