Default Pulling wheels off ground.. but only 12.01?

Well i am trying to figure out what is going on with my car.. I ran with some 16" tall slicks on yesterday.. and i ended up pulling my front stockers off the ground.. but i only ran 113 mph still at 12.01 with a 1.6 or so 60 ft time..

Its either my tuning or my trans.. i know my trans got too hot at the end and slipped a little.. but it just seems like if it was my trans i wouldn't pull my wheels off.. but then it seems like i am losing out on my top end a lot..

What do you guys think? Let me know! any help is appreciated!

my set up is in my sig.. i know the engine is there for a mid 11 run.. but something isn't right..

You should be alot faster with your mods.
I thing you should check the following with Auto Tap and a Wide Band on a few of your next runs.
Shift Points should be around 6,800
Timing 28 to 29
AFR 13.1 to 1

well my tranny just gave out yesterday.. so do you think that the tranny was just slipping at high RPMS? and thats where i was losing my top end pulling power? It just got too hot.. i am going to have my tranny guy redo everything and throw another 24,000 GVW cooler on it.. so i'll have 2 of those.. that should do the trick.. thanks for the reply slick vert.. any other ideas?

If your tranny let go, I would think about getting your converter flushed before you put it back in. You'd be surprised on how much crap is in there after a tranny lets go. I know from personal experience when I had my auto in the car.

I have a completely stock 10 bolt with 3.23 gears.. i love it.. awesome gas mileage for such a car and i can still pull my wheels up on a good launch! i couldn't believe it happened with my stock 17" tires up front either..

But yea i am getting everything flushed and cleaned out.. i saw that in the tranny pan there was no magnet.. so i had a lot of fine metal flake floating around in there.. some of that is normal with the stall.. but since it didn't collect on the magnet it probabaly clogged my filter along with messing with electrical components and other parts of the transmission.. It drove fine today after slipping the other night.. so i think the fluid just broke down and the tranny is all clogged pretty much.. I think the clutches and bands are fine though.. I am also throwing another B&M 24,000 gvw cooler on.. so i'll have to of thosr running now.. that should take car of everything! Thanks for the info!

Headers? I don't see it in your list of mods. I'm not running headers and feel like 113 mph is about max NA mph that one could get with stock manifolds.

i agree with that..I"m spraying and running 113. those stock manifolds are alright but get headers and it will free up a bit.."atleast I"m hoping"

ohh sorry guys i missed that in my list of mods.. yea it has SLP LT's.. its a full bolt on car.. i don't think i am missing anything.. I think its just my transmission slipping.. or my PCM thinking i have 3.70 gears when i have 3.23's.. i'll see what happens when i get it changed and get my transmission freshened up.. Thanks guys

bad trans can result in alot of things.

as for you pulling the tires hurting something???? not at that trap/e.t. because it's not a HUGE wheelie. But as an FYI I was yanking the fronts a couple inches as a 12.30 car at 110mph on some low 1.6 60ft's. THAT part is all on weight transfer and traction

i think my SS4000E stall is going bad.. i am going to get it checked this week.. going to see if its sending a lock up signal to the computer.. if not i am going to throw a brand new Fuddle 3200-3600 in the car.. but it could be the tuning possibly.. its really hard to say.. because it locks up still and when it does its really smooth.. so i am confused.. i'll see

thanks for the info

What track did you go to last night? I may hit Milan tonight with my new Fuddle 3800 2.3 str and MT ET Street Radials. Hoping to get my front tires of the ground without breaking anything. Did you foot brake your car off the line or flah it? Also, what kind of tires in the rear?

Thanks,

Bill

i went to lapeer... that track is shaky as hell haha.. like the road isn't straight really and its dippy.. but i foot braked it there and help it up as high as i could.. and when the light went green i went for it.. the 2 time si did that are the 2 times i pulled them off.. other than that nothing else really worked.. I had some 16x11 M&H slicks in the rear and stock 17" rims up front.. good luck!

That's so weird...1.6 60ft and yanking the wheels with a 12.0. That converter was probably all jammed up and fucky. My friend's LT1 did the same thing when his converter was on it's way out, decent 60s but awful mph.

yea i am starting to think thats what it is for sure.. i am going to throw a lower stall fuddle in there.. spend around $400.. and get anywhere from 3200-3600.. that way when i sell it.. its not such a big deal for someone who has never had a stall before.. Thanks for the info man

does it feel like you are coming outta the hole like a bat outta hell.. then your top end just feels really weak? i was beginning to think the top end on my yank just wasn't great.. or it was my tuning.. but i'm pretty sure it was my TC.. let me know what you figure out

Starting to wonder about my SECOND Yank convertor!
I had issues with the SS4000 ,finally it would not even lock up anymore.
Being only about 15 months old it was sent back and then replaced (Per my request) with a PT4000. I still have NO mph for my set-up (109-110 on a good day) as low as 107 on a bad pass.

I ran 8.5 @83 1/8th brand new all stock car 1.99 60ft.
Now i run 7.8@85 on Nitto's with a 1.61 60ft time.

I almost want to switch to another brand convertor too.

I have never got the MPH out of my car with or without the Spray!!!

OH yeah, pulling those stock (Chrome) 17x9 ZR1's is way cool. I have pictures of mine doin it with Nitto's

Good luck

Dave
