I'm in the twelves but can someone tell me why not lower???
Whats up y'all, finally ran in the twelves (12.56) after i installed my ported 243's and comp 224/230 .58x 114 cam and used some mickey thompson et streets....
The thing is last year i ran a 13.18 at 105.5mph with LS6 intake, long tubes ypipe exhaust, subframes,3.73 on streets tires in an A4 with hypertech tune (terrible)
Now i added the heads, cam, et streets, lcas and a pcmforless tune im only running 12.56 at 110.5mph ???!!!???
Is the limiting factor my stock converter since the cam's opertaing range (2000-6600) is way higher than the stock (1600) stall? OR.....
Is it the heads limiting the cam's true potential? (which obviously it would) or the converter?
I only picked up one tenth on my 60ft....all of my four runs were within 1%of each other 12.56,12.56,12.58,12.61
Anyone within any opinions on what i can do to get to some low low 12s?

those heads should be fine i am getting ready to put them on with a vindactor cam. I know some people with that combo that have pushed 10's . So I dont think the heads are hurting you.

when I had my 2800 stall I went from a stock cam to a 224 cam....My 330 time was the same, then the cam started kicking in and my 1/4 times dropped my .2 and I gained 3 mph. Your converter is definitly killing your, even my 2800 stall was hurting me, I then ordered up a 3600 and spun to a faster time by .2
Good luck, I woul recommend a 3600 converter, but don't go any smaller then 3200

I have a vigilante 3600 stall...I bought it for 300 bucks but it had a broken bolt in one of the holes. I have to pick it up from the machine shop this week. Anyone ever install a converter themselves? I did all my motor work so I think I can handle it. Thanks for the replies

I guess its worth noting the track i run at is quaker city raceway in salem ohio...i say that because anyone who has raced there knows about the incline in the track after 1000ft mark...safe to say that it sucks....im going to try to run at pittsburgh raceway because its actually flat there, a guy i talked to runs consistently 2 tenths quicker at that track...plus quaker city has a da of about 1200ft so that sucks also....i wish i lived closer to a decent track!!! The rumdumbs at quaker city did a shitty job of cleaning the track on the final day of the steel valley super nationals and a guy went down the track and lost it right at the end of the track where it was SUPPOSEDLY cleaned up, the guy totaled his car...that blows!!!!

nmass399 nailed it.
you need a *real tune. a don't see how a mail order tune can get remotely close with a setup like that. and a stock converter? come on man...
for comparison sake, my stalled bolt on a4 car went 12.2 @ 110 with the da above 2000' and a 3650# rw. you're missing at least 1 second's worth of ET and 8 mph with that setup.
real tune, real converter. done.

Yea I can see what yóur saying...I'm goin to run my car on a dyno day this weekend at the car show and I'm goin to get the data. Then I will install converter and still be able to get my pcm retuned for converter for free since its within the free 90 day period. I will have to wait for a dyno tune because I already am maxed out on budget bc I'm buildin a 81 camaro 5.3/super t10 swap and I'm gettin beat up on the loose ends. I do agree dyno tune will get at least 10+hp.

I agree. After you get the stall , raise your shift points to at least 6600 and set your rev limiter at 6800 during your dyno tune. Once you get that done and make your first pass , you will be very happy with the results .

Does anybody know where a good respectable place is to get some dyno tuning done? I live about 45 min north of pittsburgh...im willing to drive in order to get someone to tune it who only deals with lsx cars most of the time...there is shops around me but none of them are LSX shops...because i want to get it done by someone who knows these cars inside and out as far as the tuning experience goes....thanks for all the replies
