Default LS1 Morris Minor

First outing at local strip netted me a best of 12.9 @ 103. Best 60 foot was 1.99. Low terminal speed was lack of bottle as car was very loose (not a great track).
Once I sort handling I feel it should get into the 11's:

I had to back off several times and then re apply throttle. I'm sure front left was airborne at times.
I did back off before the finish line too.

Wheelbase of car is only 86 inches and engine is set between axles. Rear ratio is quite high 3.1 -1 with 26 inch diameter tyres - hence the feeling of looseness.

video link works fine , and nice job getting down the track.

Looks like a pretty grassroots track there with tires for barriers and you would never see a car race against a bike at any track I ever raced at. Looks like not many rules to hold you back lol

Track is an old Fleet Air Arm airfield from WW2. My uncle actually flew from there (and crash landed). It was used for practise carrier landings with a carrier deck painted on the tarmac.
All the buildings are still there, but in poor order, but they are protected by Historic Scotland. Because of this, it is difficult to upgrade things - including the runway hence it's not very grippy and a bit uneven. I've raced my bike there for years, and really haven't seen many incidents (although 1 person has been killed), although the fast stuff doesn't go there. You very rarely get a sub 10 second car using it, or sub 9 second bike.

That's a good time for Crail. Rumours keep surfacing about Driftland in Lochgelly building a drag strip in time for summer 2015 but I've heard these sort of stories before.

I put in 13 runs yesterday in my Minor with a best of 12.241 @ 113.1, but all runs were in the mid to low 12's.
Here's the best run figures:

Reaction time 0.366
60 foot - 1.973
1/8th mile TV 92 mph
1/8th time 7.871
1/4 12.241
speed 113.1

Due to the way the car is built, it is difficult to left foot brake, so all times are starting from idle.
I'm sure there's more to come.

The car has had the steering geometry changed and has just had a 4 wheel alignment, so now runs straight and true. I'm glad I fitted bigger brakes as Crail raceway doesn't have much run off before the sea.

Best result from today:
Reaction 0.47
60 foot 2.
1/4 12.22
Speed 116.3 mph

All runs were in low 12's, but I can't seem to get the 60 foot time down below 1.9. Top speed is up a bit from previous days though.

Results from Sunday past. A bit disappointing as car seems to be quicker than last year. Changes from last time were having a low fuel load, wider front wheels/tyres, dropping rear tyre pressures to 19psi. A bit more spinning up on the line and change into 2nd. However, most cars weren't doing their usual times, so maybe a one off going in the wrong direction. Was pretty consistent though. Still, I got a better time than a tuned LS7 powered Ultima.

I got runner up again this year at Crail in the RWD category, beaten by the ariel atom by a bumper width. Still it's still 5 wins to 1 for me.
Still not in the 11's, but i may fit a nitrous kit to bring times down.
At least my times were consistent with good reaction times including a 0.
