Nothing wrong with that slip for your first time out. What were you expecting?

Your trap speed is high for that e.t. keep practicing your launches, DR's are your freind. Your car has a few more tenths at least if you can hook well. Don't feel bad about running 12's, 12's are fast, you're just in really fast company.

Nice trap, now just get a lower 60' to match and you'll be around 12.5 hopefully. My technique, although not the best, works for me. I rev to about 3500, then slip the clutch smoothly. I'm on stock goodyear rubber though. Good luck, just keep practicing the launches.

if you haven't done so already, strongly consider a dynotune with a good tuner. It should run you between $300-$500.

get it tuned. 112mph is way too low for a cam-only 6speed. I went 112 with boltons

Its been tuned by lethal performance. ive gone as fast as 113.69mph in the texas heat.maybe winter cool air will give me a higher trap speed?would it be good to get more suspension in the front or just practice the launch. Thanks for all the advice!

You asked for advice so here it is.

First, a good part of it is definately the hot summer air, everybody runs slower in the mid-summer. Keeping your car very cool is crucial, but you're still not gonna get as good of a time as you will in Sept. on. A night run in the fall or in early march will be your best bet for a "best" ET. The manual fan switch mod is a must. If you havent done it, make it the next thing you do on your list. If you want to spend a little money and get it cooler even quicker you can add a electric water pump.

Second, as long as you're on the stock rear you'll never get the best out of your car. I'm sure you can do better than the 12.9 you got, but you'll never get the "best" with the stock rear. Swap in a 12blt/9" with some lower cogs and put a good clutch in and with some stickies you won't know what to do with yourself

With all of the above mentioned and with PRACTICE (one of the most important mods), your car has the potential to go bottom 12's.

However I agree that that trap speed seems low for a cam'd car.

Agreed, with the tq2, i think 115-116 traps should be normal in the summer heat.
