ASE Certification
Hi guys, Ive been out of tech school for about 6 months. Im already starting to forget some of what I have learned because I am working at autozone.. and not in a shop where I should be everyday. So basically I would like to get started in getting my ASE certs. When I was in school, they gave us a discount to take the tests, but unfortuneatly I was scraping by at the time, so I couldnt afford it.
So how much do the ASE test costs out of pocket? And how do I go about getting started for testing? I just took a few ASE practice tests and average 90% for transmissions, So im pretty confident I would pass.
Next question is.. Since I would still need shop time to actually get the ASE certs, would it look good on a resume that Ive passed the tests, or does it not really matter? Thanks!

dont remember what they cost, but I took mine while in school and I thought it was around 40 a test, that was discounted tho.
as for does it help, of course anything helps on a resume. it just depends on what you do with it. I have several ASE tests that I have passed, but you dont get a cert because I dont meet the shop time experience. plus, I work on construction equipment now so it doesnt do me any good to keep up for ASE

They will only pay if youve been with the company for more than a year.. and they only will pay for the parts knowledge certification.. I just want the transmission knowledge ase right now thats my specialty.

they cost 36 dollars a test.
and 30 to register.
problem with taking these tests is that they just cost to damn much.
my first round of tests ran 96 dollars, my second round was going to cost another 96.
but i opted out because of the cost.
