LS1 Catch Can
I need to buy a Oil Catch can for my 98 LS1 and need to know if any one has any suggestions as to which catch can i should get and where i should get it from. Also i will need a diagram as to where or how to hook it up, and if anyone has any pictures of theirs installed, thanks.

i have but ive read alot of bad things from that from oil mist and oil smell inside the car and actually not really helping, at least from what i read, catch can even though it is alot more cost wise seems 2 b the better route.

Street car needs a pcv. It's not just for emissions..it keeps moisture from building up in your oil and some sources say it helps the rings seal better because of the constant positive vaccum. I ran just a breather for about a month and I had moisture build up under the breather and on tops of my valve covers. So I went back to the stock setup. Also when I changed the oil with the breather setup it didn't look right or smell like used oil typically does.

well the problem im having is that im using a quart of oil every 750 miles and need to add a quart like 5 times before i do a 3k mile oil change and inside my intake u can see oil just sitting in there. which when i let my car sit for like 5 days of not driving it, it will run like **** for the first minute or two until it works all that crap that has been sittin in their out and smokes like hell. if i keep driving it everyday its fine but still consumes alot of oil and getting to much in the intake, so i figured a catch can will at least help from the oil pools inside the intake.

I just bought an AMW one from vastperformance. They make a universal one that you specify for a ls1 and comes with a bracket to bolt to the head on the passenger side. I have been checking it about once a week. Trying to get on it once a trip to see what it is actually castching. I have noticed less blow-by out the exhaust and have caught a small amount in the catch can. Only been on about three weeks.
That sounds like alot of oil consumption. A catch can will help some but sounds like you may need valve seals to or may have an external leak also. If you feel around back there is a y connection that gums up and may clog/shut for the PCV system.

What will happen over time you'll have premature bearing failure because of all the corrosive blow-by contaminating the oil, instead of it being pulled out into a catch-can and/or back through the intake to be reburned.
Food-for-thought,
Smell you oil,I bet you have high levels of corrosive combustion by-products in it.
