6.0 build questions
i have an lq4 6.0 block. i am buildint this engine for my whipple supercharged 2002 4x4 sierra. i make about 10lbs of boost on my 5.3 and i am running a 3200 circle d converter, longtube headers, no cats, straight thru muffler, electric fans and i have 33" tall tires, ported throttle body.
my parts list so far
lq4 block
lq4 crank
lq9 rods and pistons
im thinking
224ish custom grind cam from lloyd elliott
valvsprings from him
probobly work a set of ls1 heads over a little if i can find a set cheap.
otherwise i have the 98 ls1 heads that are perimeter bolts. not sure if they are worth it or not.
im also going to run the patriot extreme springs.
would a set of arp rod bolts be a good upgrade?
im going to send the crank and rods to the machinshop to get turned.
block will get honed and cam bearings installed.
is there any input or things im missing here? any info is appreciated

If you do get heads and port them your psi will drop for the same given amount of air flow, plus you will get cooler denser air so you can make more power. I'd look st something like a 224/230 .595/.595 115-116lsa

Well I'm making about 10lbs on my 5.3 so I'm guessing 7 ish PBS of boost. I figured the lq9 pistons and rods would be stronger. I already have the perimeter bolt 806 heads just laying here. I don't have any 317s. I figure 9.5 to 1 compression is what I would shoot for

The crank sensor sits right above the starter on the passengerside....I think you are thinking of the cam sensor....gen 3 is at the back, right behind the intake, and the gen 4 is in the front cover. I'd just call some local junkyards, or even do a search in the forsale section here for the front cover.

ok that makes sense, i was confused. do i need the gen 3 cover so i can run the same cam sensor off of my 5.3? also does annyone know who sells the converter box or know what it is actually called. i cant find it.

I'm pretty sure if you run the signal converter, you run all Gen IV hardware and sensors (white cam and crank sensors), and let the box handle the signal. You would use a Gen IV cover and cam gear for the sensor to read it and be converted by the box. I think Lingenfelter makes that module/box.

Or You can just buy a cheap extension harness. If he buys the converter box, it will come with it.
You can't run a gen 3 cam in a gen 4 engine block. There is no provision for the cam sensor on the back of the engine. You will need the front cover, sensor and reluctor wheel.
