To make sure they oscillate like they should.
I guess thats why I didnt have to do this.

These are the instructions I found off of another site.. It's talking about extra wires to hook up from 0-5 volt sources for other parameters and also that center red wire for a possible switch power because the obd2 port has power to it at all times? I don't really know.. if anyone else has experience with this, please chime in!

just wanted to bump this up...
i have my gauge all set up but sometimes it doesnt turn on when i turn the ignition or car on. could this be because i have a 98 and have to hard wire it? its currently just plugged into the obd port and reads everything

I've had mine for over 5 years and it has been in 2 different cars. Great guys to deal with also, I had it reflashed to work with my SS after I sold the car it was originally in.

I prefer my Scan Gauge II. Displays 4 gauges at a time, can program in more, records performance times, tracks fuel milage, resets and reads engine codes, and has a color changing display that is easy to read. Just my two cents. I also love that I can see the transmission temperatures and never has to install anything extra to do it.
