Stock Lifters how good are they?

Stock Lifters how good are they?
How many of you re-use your stock lifters/or new stock lifters when doing a cam swap?
How many of you went with an upgrade and to what.
What lift are they good up to, and hp/rpm?
I reused my stock lifters when I did the cam swap about 40000mi ago and they are still holding up great, granted I have the little B1 cam but they are holding. Reason I am asking is I have a new 348 Forged 9.1-1 beauty sitting in the garage and need to gather the little things to ready it for the swap.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: Stock Lifters how good are they?
I bought some Comp Rs to put in my motor this week when I swap heads and cam. I'm only putting in a LS6 cam, but I figured it was cheap insurance.

I had a Tick,Tick, tick sound comeing from my valve train which the dealer said was piston slap, I Replaced my stock lifters and pushrods during my cam swap TR pushrods and comp R lifters and now the sound is gone! P.S. stock pushrods checked all good.

You cant easily change lifters withthe cam and valvetrain unless you have the heads off. Unlike older SBC designs, you cant get to the lifters unless you've taken the heads off.
Stock lifters are very good and in most cases make slightly less noise (they dont mind alot of preload) than aftermarket lifters.

Assuming that stock lifers are good, at what point should stock replacements be considered? I'm at 65k miles and I'm doing a heads/cam/headers/intake project in the Spring.

Re: Stock Lifters how good are they?
chances are the stock lifters will be fine, but i had one fail on me and it is a pain in the a$$ to change them because you have to take the heads off to do so. if i were you i'd spend the $200 and get a set of new lifters. when i got mine from thunder racing i didn't know whether to get the stock replacements or the R series. they said that the stock ones take ALOT of abuse and are very strong. but take the insurance and get new ones.
