LT1 Head bolt tightning sequence and Torque specs.
LT1 Head bolt tightning sequence and Torque specs. Anyone know what it is? I'm getting my heads ported and I want to make sure I don't mess up with the tightning. The new cam also comes in tomorrow.

Does anyone know the torque specs?
Also, I've tried searching and I can't seem to find anything, which is why I was asking for help.
I appreciate it.

What head bolts are you using? Stock or ARP? If you are using ARP use the torque the they recommend that will vary depending on what lubricant you use. Stock, for '95 and earlier was 65 ft-lb and the later were a torque + an angle that I don't remember.

Did this a couple weeks ago. For stock head bolts, it's 22 ft-lbs and then 67* on the shorter bolts and then 80* on the longer ones. But as it was said, 65 ft-lbs if you don't have an angle gauge. I kinda think they're stupid anyway. Why not just have a torque spec?!

Thanks guys, I'm putting the motor together tomorrow. I got all new bolts, new plugs and a double roller timing chain. I wanted to go with AC Delco Iridium, but they didn't have any...I had to settle with the NGK Iridiums...I hope they will be ok, I know GM calls for AC Delco...
