Very good info. Thanks, we all needed to hear that little piece of info., especially me. Cause, I live in Louisiana, myself. It makes me paranoid hearing bout' these 2 auto thefts, both being down here in the south. I'm gonna' fix something up to cover my VIN# and anything else I can do to deter or prevent my car from being stolen. I'm really sorry to hear bout' ya'lls cars being stolen thehitchmaster n snakehunter. If I hear or see anything, I'll let ya'll know. I live in Bossier City, LA. You never know, they might pop up here. This really sucks.
the vin number thing when i lost the keys to my mudstain i gave them my vin and then had to go through a bunch of other bullcrap to get it like my info the registration stuff...maybe i just had a legit shop do it...it cost me about $80 for a new key

Yeah you slide somebody a $100 you never know what could happen. but anyways, In the south area just be careful. I dont want this happening to anybody else. especially if you dont drive it everyday keep it inside if possible.

Verdad Gallardo I was just thinking about getting a piece of black plastic and cutting it to fit right over where the VIN is, And I'm sure if you got a hookup at the dealer they would have no problem, I'm sure these cars are probably a PAIN to start without a vats key.

Where and how was the car parked, at what time do you think it happened and such. Did you have any other theft deterrent devices?
From what a lot of us have seen its pretty obvious these guys know what they are doing. Not only do they have keys for the cars made, but they have fake car registrations made up with their own names. If they can't get it with a key, they get it with a flatbed. It's horrendous what they are doing and they need to stop before some begrudged F-body owner(s) takes the law into his own hands and wipes them from the face of the Earth (not that it would be a bad thing if that happened!)

The car was parked in front of my shop. I think the time that it was stolen was anywhere from 3:30 to 6:30 in the afternoon. All i had as far as alarm was gm's fine alarm system. No glass was broken just an empty spot where my car was.
Thats the GPS they hide in the car right? Sounds like a good idea.
How do those pager alarm systems work? Perhaps also a good idea.
Seems to be higher end LS1 models disappearing, none the less I think I will cover up my VIN number tommarow......
