working on a 67 nova wagon twin turbo combo
we picked up roller for pretty cheap and have been working on a 6.0/4l80e/twin set up. probably wont be running for a few more months but things are coming along.
it is starting to look like something. got the motor and tranny mounts made, motor is bolted in. got the cooling system done. the accesory system is done. the headers are mostly done. going to get dimentions for the twin throttle body t next weekend and get it on the way. got the drain fittings welded on the pan. got the charge pipe stuff ordered up, working on some coil mounts. it is going to be a staged duel fuel 87octane/meth with no intercooler. http://www.neufamily.org/images/67no...ry/index_3.htm

where did the 6.0l come from
The 6.0l motor looks like a bow auto salvage unit out of NH. They have been the cheapest so far for truck LS motors we have found. We are using one in our 99 ls turbo mustng build at giffinsperformance.com We also used a 5.3 in my 89 gmc w/ a mpt70 and a th400 w/brake. We would also like to put our spare 5.3l mpt70 into our datsun 610 and run it agaist your fairmont on pinks. Both cars would be running megasquirt units. Later. G

we get our motors at a local junk yard. 5.3's are $450, 6.0's are $800.
the tubing is scheduel 10 stainless. pretty cheap. the little 90's are $7, the big 90 was something like $12. each header has about $150 worth of material not counting the waste gate flange.

What made you decide on methanol over E85? seems like a lot of the boosted applications are running e85 now because of the availability.

Thanks for the info man. I never thought about using pipe for a turbo exhaust mani, but I guess the added thickness would make it stand up to heat cycles much better. One more quick questions if you don't mind. I haven't messed with pipe before, are flares/transitions like you used from the rear primaries into the log an off the shelf part? I doubt you'd be able to do that with an tubing expander.

The fittings and transitions are off the shelf parts. They are normally used by boilermakers/pipefitters. The steel ones are pretty easy to find, but stainless like parish used is also available. http://www.mcmaster.com/ has them but their prices are a LOT higher than parish paid

it will be 2 complete fuel systems. one with pump gas and 4 injectors into the elbow and one with meth into 8 intake mounted injectors.
we are not 100% sure on what fuel we will be using but we are not going to have an intercooler so it seems like meth would be the way to go.
i get my stuff at mcmaster. the little elbows are now listed at $8 and the bigger ones listed at $18. still not a bad deal.

i used 1.5" primarys and 2.5" logs. when you use pipe like that the actual dimentions of the inside are often bigger than the "trade" size. you have to look at the specs. the 1.5" sch 10 are more like 1 5/8" inside so perfect for the ls1 exhaust port. i like how these headers turned out.
