Default pop up light motor going out

A pop up light motor is going out in my c5. Should I just get rid of the pop ups all together with the mounted head lights like n the c6 and what are the best ones to get

is it making a crazy grinding noise when you close the lights? thats a sign of a stripped gear. if its anything like the TA lights, you can take out the gear and turn it 180 degrees, re-install it and it will wokr fine since only 180 degrees of it are used to flip the lights.

Yep the T/As and c5s share the same headlight motors. They make a brass gear that replaces the plastic ones

Does the C5 headlight motor have a removable cover for servicing the gear, F-body headlight motor gear cover has to be cut open to service ?

Well, that is partially right but sort of majorly wrong. That is like removing your engine to change the air filter...

You don't need to remove the gear. You just unbolt the arm it is attached to, spin it manually and reinstall... Same end effect.
