What is it, where does it go?
Is it a hatch shelf for the rear?

Its the thing that blocks the spot where your t tops go, the hatch seals it off at the back

My father or I could do something very similar to that. What we would do is hand tool the firebird into a piece of leather then cover that piece with the leather. Do you still have the original piece that goes in there? Let me see if i can upload a picture or two of what tooling leather looks like.

ok here is an example. Sorry the pic isn't to good, but its the best that I have. This is a motorcycle seat that I tooled and upholstered a year or so ago.

Doing this on that package tray you could use a lot thicker of leather and make it stand out alot. With the tooling leather you can also add a lot more detail to it than the method you have shown. Dying is all up to you because everything we do is hand dyed. Fading, shading, solid colors, pretty much the color is up to your imagination.

ok i did some looking around just to give you some ideas of what kind of detail you can really add with going with tooling leather. Not only can you die all the different colors into it, but each like will stand out like the individual lines of the flames. Its hard to describe what the final product would look like, but I hope you understand. You could do a logo like this with "pontiac" "ws6" "trans-am", any words you want above it or below it.

Yeah I still have my stocker and that would be awesome. Maybe make the bird a little smaller and do the trans am logo below it.
