Ebay SS Spoiler, having some fitment issues
I bought this ss spoiler from a company located in New York off ebay. It seems to be a good quality spoiler but it's sitting up too high and not leveling with the hatch. My body shop installed the spoiler and painted it but this is driving me nuts. I'm over here in Africa so I haven't seen the car in person although my buddy took some pics for me when he picked the car up. Has anyone had this issue before? I wonder if there's some sort of gasket they installed which is causing it to be raised a little? I talked to the body shop and they told me they had to drill holes in the hatch to bolt the center posts down, didn't the stock SS spoilers just bolt to the ends?
Any idea's on what could be going on? Pic is attached.

If you got if off Ebay there is a chance the fitment just sucks. From what I've read there are only a couple of companies on ebay that make really good fitting ones.
I've never heard of it having to be mounted in the middle. Maybe they did something they weren't supposed to and that's why it's not sitting level.

If you pull the spoiler back off you'll see there is foam between the spoiler and the hatch.
This is there so the spoiler doesn't rub and squeak when the vehicle torques.
You can rip the foam completely off and you should be fine.
The spoiler should fit pretty close to flush after that.
As far as the center posts, there instructions say to bolt it down.
My body guy was not supposed to install my spoiler, but did so anyway thinking he was doing me a favor.
Most people don't bolt down the center posts; they just throw the felt between the posts and the hatch that comes with the spoiler.
The only downfall to bolting it down is now you have two holes in your hatch, it should not change how flush the spoiler sits.
How were the waves in your spoiler?
You can surf on my spoiler - the waves are BAD.
I'm wondering if my body guy did the job correctly.
... I've been looking for an OEM SS spoiler now.

I did a little research today and figured out that was the issue. I had my Grandfather look at the spoiler and he said there was foam about a 1/4inch thick under each post and the ends. I bet that's whats causing it to sit so high. From what I can tell and what my buddy told me the spoiler is slick as the factory one, no waves or low spots at all. It looks to be a quality spoiler, once I get home and remove that foam to get it seated correctly then I'll know for sure. I went with the OEM SS Hood just for that reason, thankfully it turned out perfect.

I have an OEM SS Spoiler and it sticks up a bit in the corners like that. But it could be because on of the bolts on the spoiler was ripped out then fiberglassed back in so it may be raising it some. In any case I think its actually somewhat common.

My body guy refused to sand the spoiler because he was afraid of exposing the actual fibers.
He, of course, informed me of this AFTER he painted it.
I'm glad you have the fitment issue nailed down and that yours looks good, though.

Thanks for the help, that was the problem. I had my buddy remove the foam strips now it sits perfect and looks great. I'm happy with it, although I can't wait to see it in person. Now the cars back in storage for the winter.
