Concept rendering of what my Grand Sport will look like:
Hey all,
I did a FINAL Photoshop rendering of what I imagine my Grand Sport will look like when it's finished. I used a few different images and combined them to make the final version. The idea is to create a modern interpretation of Zora's 'ultimate Vette' keeping with the basic cues from the past such as the design of the body, frame, wheels, stripe shape, etc. but making it unlike any other GS replica out there. Since it will begin life as an actual '63 Corvette, it will not be considered a 'kit' car and will have absolutely no restrictions when it comes to emissions testing.
My revised color scheme (and hopefully final) will be the new '04 Comemorative Corvette LeMans Blue as the primary color. The stripe will be Sebring Silver with a 1/4" Torch Red pinstripe. The wheels will be 17" versions of the originals, fully polished with modern Good Year rubber. The sidepipes and fender accent strips will be polished too. The frame will be powdercoated silver with modern suspension and have new 13" J55 brakes. The interior will have silver leather seats and door panels with light gray carpeting. The seat belt harnesses will be red. The engine will be an American Speed 383ci 4 bolt main GM block with a Kinsler cross-ram fuel injection unit putting out 525hp @ 5800 rpm and 515 ft. lbs. of torque @ 4400 rpm - a real tire fryer!
The '95 Corvette front and rear suspensions are supposed to be delivered to me this coming weekend so I can finally get started. The donor car is being procured this week too and the tube frame should be ready by the end of November (I hope).

Looks like it will be a great car, I think a white stripe would look better but it's your car and $$$$$. Will the body already come painted when you get it?

Al, I chose silver because every other GS I see has white stripes AND because I do really have a fondness for silver, hence the silver leather interior. I have the option of having the body painted before it goes onto the chassis. Another option is to complete the chassis, bring it to the shop that's building the body and having them place it on the frame in primer. I have a friend who manages a paint shop who can probably do the job for a lot less $$$ but then another challenge arises - remove the body again and build a rolling frame or mask everything to keep the overspray off the chassis. I may just decide to pay a bit more and have a sparkling fully painted body go directly onto the sparkling chassis once with no cleanup necessary.

Looks great, I love those cars.
Goes without saying that you need the car lower in back, and lettered tires are gay.

Lettered tired on racecars are NOT gay! C'mon man, you're killin me. Mine will be a bit lower that's for sure but if I can find Good Years in 17 with letters, I'm getting them. Slap me silly and call me Rita!!

I agree. I think lettered tires on fast cars look awesome. I'm thinking of getting yellow lettered tires for my CE T/A.

Well we don't always agree.
By the way I just saw Grand Sport hashmarks on a Probe GT and they looked just as bad as they look on F-bodies.
Take that!
My next project will either be a 98-02 Camaro or a 63-64 Pontiac.

Nice The lettered tires look a little cheesy...maybe I'm just dumb... Do they make redline tires anymore like the old hotwheels that'd look cool!
Here's what the frame will look like. Notice the cool tires.

That should look nice, I personally like "out of the blue" better as a color choice though..
