Default Fuel gauge issue after 6LE install

Sorry for crappy cell phone pics.

So I am having a huge issue. I just put everything back together out of frustration. The stupid fuel gauge will not set right. It keeps bouncing back to around 3/4 of a tank:

I don't know why it's doing this. No matter where I put it, it goes there. I noticed the gauge is to the right a little bit so I don't know if this is the problem?

The fuel gauge as well as the other little ones have small little tabs as well as the big on that goes into the pin. The overlay is in the way a little for the F mark. Don't know if that is the issue? I'm seriously irritated. Anyone?

I have a video of me putting it in and it snapping back to 3/4 of a tank. Where can I host it at?

Try shifting the overlay over. You can host the video on youtube and i mine didn't have tabs can you take more pics.

How did you go about putting the needle on? Did you put it on with the pointer facing the 3/4 mark? Or did you put it on facing "F"?

I have the 6le gauges too and mine will only go up to the 3/4 mark. Doesnt bother me at all the fuel gauge has never read correctly. It will read fine when the fuel drops below 3/4 of a tank or at least mine does. I just have fuel level set as one of my settings on my aeroforce scan gauge.

So what's the solution to this common problem? I put it on pointing at F and it snaps back to 3/4. I put it a quarter past F and it snaps back to 3/4.

I put it back together for now so I can't take anymore pics, but the smaller needles had another little post thing right next to the one that you pin into.

And now I just noticed that my tach isn't working right... it did, then I took the gauges out to put in LEDs. Damn it!

If you think the mcnords are interfering with it move them over alittle bit. If thats not an option then make the hole for the needle a little bigger.

this is what i was thinking....Maybe that gauge is wound up? Maybe try spinning the needle once and see if it works? Or something like that. It isn't under pressure or anything, is it?

Mine actually did that a few times. If you look at the needles they are not keyed BUT they have slits in them (to press on). I think over the years this has a "keying" effect on them. It is my only explanation for why the needle goes where it wants to and not where we put it...

Anyways, the fix is simply to over compensate and put the needle as far "wrong" as you have to put it so that when it sets itself it is in the correct position.

My fuel and my tach BOTH did this on mine. On a friend's car it was the oil pressure gauge...

Dont be turned off of buying 6le gauge overlay they are awesome.. You just have to spend some time adjusting the needles to read correctly. Took me probaly 5 min to get everything reading correctly (execept for the fuel gauge)

Past the fuel gauge we are fine. But then I did LED's and now the tach is jumpy. lol Have to change that again.

I guess I don't know what you're meaning by it's "keyed." But I tried over compensating for it and it still snaps into 3/4. Put it a quarter above full and boom, 3/4.

Hmmm... You are applying it with the key forward correct?

Yeah the key has to be "on" to make the gauge read right. Mine goes to just above 1/2 when I turn the key off, regardless of how much gas is in the tank.
