Removing the intake is fairly simple. You do need to be careful with the oil sensor as this is commonly broke when an intake is taken off. I bet if you start early and work all day, you could have the intake ready to be put back on the next day.
I had a walkthrough for this, let me try to find it

This is a friend of mine's website.
http://www.metalreviewcentre.com/TAframe.htm
Goto Project Resurrection. On the first page of that, towards the bottom gives you steps on painting the intake. Probably towards the top will give you info on removing the intake.

Getting the intake off is the easy part. Once you get the intake off, make sure you clean it very well. We used a pressure washer on mine. Then you will need to sand down top of the intake as best as you can. I had Brains paint my intake with a spray gun. I think it turned out well. Here are a few pics:
Made these also and painted a bunch of other things...
Ending picture?
You can paint anything you want but I suggest leaving the stuff off the car until it is completely dry. I let everything sit for a few days before putting it back on.

Sorry but that's too much silver!
If you prep it well, you can achieve great results. I was really happy with mine! Amazing what you can do with a rattle can with enough patience!

The lower airbox and the radiator shroud was really not that difficult if you get a good paint. I used PPG paint on everything under the hood. Sand down all the bad spots and use a SOS pad to scuff up the rest. Use a thick primer and then scuff it up again. You are now ready to apply the paint and clear coat. After everything is dry, go back and wet sand.
