Default Black Part in Trunk Lid...

Hey guys, I want to install some new tint in my car.. but the black part on the window that is supposed to be black isnt black anymore, but a weird gray... Im guessing the edges on the window( I believe its called dot matrix) faded out with the sun and now they are gray... If i apply some window tint, the window tint will look black, but the edges gray.. how can i fix this? If you have a write up for it... or you know how post up!!! Thanks.. I really want to get those edges on the back window dark again. Thanks.

The tint doesn't stick very well to the "dots" Some have picked or sanded the dots off. Its time to replace my tint and I haven't decided what to do about that, if anything.

Yea I just painted mine with semi-gloss black paint. It sounds bad, but it actually turned out looking like it came from the factory that way.

Easiest way is to put a black vinyl under the tint that lays over the dot matrix. You'll never see it through your tint and it won't bubble. Cheap too. Quality shops will do this no extra charge if you ask.

The guys who put my tint on, waaay back when, used vinyl tape to mask off the area. Came out really good.

I painted mine semi-gloss black also. It came out great, just be careful around it because even after it cures the paint will still peel off like a sticker. But done right it can look great!

Pics - much easier to tint the back window (when your tint is 1 piece) when off the car.

I just had the tint shop cover it with black vinyl. Turned out great and it was much easier than taking the hatch off and spray painting it.
