Default Detailing your engine????

How do I do it....dealership,...? simple green and hose,...? rag and armor all,... ?
I wanna get a steam cleaner but I want that shiny black brand new look. I really need a wash and detail on my engine for sure and wanted a safe way to do it without screwing something up.......Thx

I don't know if I'd steam clean the engine with all the electronics in the engine bay... what works for me is simple green and a hose, keeping away from the PCM and other such delicate electronics. If you want a real shine, Classic recommended the use of foaming tire cleaner on the hoses and such...

On engine bays, I've used simple green many times (works great) and I know people that have used steam as well (also works great).

For the shiny look, any rubber/plastic protectant/shiner works great. I use STP Son-of-a-gun, it works great to shine without dirt sticking to it.

I use Simple Green as welll.

I have also used CD-2 detailer. You can get it at Pep Boys, Target, etc. It comes with a can of cleaner/degreaser and a can of detail spray. It works well but I only use it about once a year. The detail spray will attract dust after a while but it looks great if you want to show your car or just get it clean and shiny. Then you only need to do maintenance for a while with the Simple Green or water only.

When I used to work at a dealership.... they used a degresser then mixed it with kerosene! It work great! I personally use simple green. Like said above the spray detailer will only make dirt stick to your engine.

I use simple green and CD-2 detailer that you can pick up at any auto supply. Always looks good!
