Default Film on door windows

There's this film all over my two door windows. There's a long, thick streak that goes up the glass like 15 inches back from the front (around where the door lock plastic panel is). I've heard it's from car wash soap getting down in there, or something inside the door, etc. What the crap is it? I need to know what it is so if I get the windows re-tinted I won't be doing it for nothing. Thanks for any help. I'll try to get some pictures when I get home from work.

Take the door panel off. You'll see some fuzzy felt guide brackets bolted to the top of the door with 10mm bolts. Unbolt them and clean them thoroughly and reinstall (the striped one you should reinstall with a little less tension on the glass). That may help...

Oh, and have you just tried cleaning the stripe away using a wet or dry microfiber towel??

Well, the crap is all over the glass, and I would have to do some scrubbing on it. I haven't.

Try a tint-safe car window cleaner, or a quick detailer type spray.

I tried to take a picture but couldn't. I also tried to scrap the large streak with my fingernail but failed also.

Mine did the same thing this year. It's that felt piece. I think it scratched my tint! It won't go away
