keep yer SS hood if you've got an SS! if i had bought an SS i would have been totally happy with the apperance but i bought a Z and i wanted to switch things up a little so i got the Ultra Z hood (which looks awesome by the way) and i've got pics in my sig but it wont give you any 10-15 horsepower....

I gotta agree if I bought a SS I wouldn't change much in the way of appearance. I bought my Z28 because I knew I would changing things up. Im very happy with my Ultra Z hood but the HP gains they say you get from it is B.S.

It's your car, but I would highly discourage you from changing the hood. That is a GM ~$1500 hood, so don't change it man! It looks great and if I had an SS, I would definitely be proud of it.

I am proud of my car but I just think that the Ultra Z hood is an awesome looking hood. If I could get someone to by my hood, then I would get it. I know that the Ultra Z hood is very expensive and it doesnt even come painted. But if someone is willing to trade or sell theirs and it is black, then Im totally interested. Plus, I want my SS to look different from all the other ones. Plus where Im from, I havent seen anyone who has it.

Hi onebadss,

My personal opinion is: If you want an Ultra-Z hood on your SS, go for it. Ilike the Ultra-Z hood better too. Isnt that really the crux of the problem anyway?? Which one you like best? When it comes down to it, is the hood any different than any other high dollar mod you may do to the car?

bESIDES, YOU CAN SWITCH THE HOODS OFF FROM TIME TO TIME FOR SOME VARIETY.

here's mine:

For the people who are saying that HP numbers are BS... they're as BS as the 15 HP increase you get with the Camaro SS hood. In fact, the Ultra-Z hood is a better ram-air hood than the SS hood because air has less distance to travel to the air box. Period.

If you have an SS and want to get the Ultra-Z hood, you will not gain an additional 15 HP because you already had that with the SS. In other words your 325 HP SS wont become a 340 HP SS with this hood. It'll simply stay 325 HP.

Your 310 HP Z28 WILL get an increase of 15 HP at the flywheel.

You're packing more air into the engine and that means more power.

Well the hp issue isnt really a big factor to me. I wanted the hood because I love the way it looks and on top of that, I want my SS to look different then everyone else's. Then on top of that, Ive never seen anyone with one around here.

Jim. What color is your car? Mine is black. I didnt know if you were aware of it being that color. The icon/picture under your name, the car is red. I thought that you picked it out because it matched youre car. Well the picture Ive got matches my car. Well anyway, how much are you willing to pay for it. I know that the hood brand new goes for over $600 and thats not painted. I will work a deal with you, but youve gotta offer me the right price. Where are you from? Thanks

I've been debating between the Ultra Z, SS or Zl1 hood. I don't want my car to look like I wanted to make it a fake SS so I'm gonna either get an ultra Z or the zl1

My Z28 is exactly like my icon (Bright Red).
Anyone from the north-east region of the USA with an aftermarket 98+ Camaro hood email me at csmaster6@netscape.net

I'd like to make a road trip to pick one up from the area because shipping costs are so high.

btw I am from New Hampshire seacoast.
