Default SS and Bowtie grilles

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the SLP "bowtie" and "SS" grilles, other than the emblems? Different grilles altogether? Or just different emblems... Thanks. WJ.

The SS is the same as the bowtie except for the badge. the bowtie just has the bowtie while the SS has the SS emblem on the front. its really straight forward. i think that u can only get the SS one if you have a SS, i think that slp checks the vin numbers.... im not sure though. i have a bowtie grille that matches my car, check it out in my sig.

I could be mistaken, but I *think* the grille itself is different in that the SS grille is shaped like an "SS" emblem behind where the badge goes on, and the bowtie grille is shaped like a "bowtie" behind where the badge goes on.

In other words, if you put an "SS" badge on the bowtie grille instead, it would be attached to what looks like a bowtie behind it, and vice versa.

I hope you follow what I'm saying... lol

I don't have either one, I'm just guessing based on what I have seen...

Also the horizontal fins are reduced from two to one vs the stock grille. Just a fyi. Looks cleaner in my opinion.

The area on which the two badges are mounted are shaped a little differently.

This really sucks that SLP does this to SS owners but they've got us over the barrel and don't mind giving it to us

I "inquired" about the whole deal of the SS grill costing $100+ more than the bowtie and they did not like that at all. They are pretty bad that way. The SS grill is cool but it's a rip-off. You're better off either finding a used one or just going with something else and putting your own badges on it!

When I get my done I will post pictures. I bought a factory GM grille (that matches the one in my 2002 SS LE) and I am having it primed and sanded smooth and then painted red. It will cost me next to nothing to do compared to buying the SS grille or the SS LE grille.

I should be able to get it done by this weekend. I will post the pictures then.
