Default Can you make cooled seats?

Well, even with ac on while driving, it seems that your back ends up sweating by the end of the trip during those summers.

Would it be possible to cut out two vertical brushed aluminum or mesh vents on the back portions of the seats and set it up so it works with your hvac controls?

I know some cars have hvac piping going under the carpet and to the rear of the cars to blow air out on the 2nd and 3rd rows.

I was wondering something along these lines the other day also. I have never taken apart the dash or console, so if this idea wouldn't work then I apologize. What about possibly running two smaller flexible ducts from the main AC duct along both sides of the transmission tunnel just inside of the center console and have them exit under each seat? Would that be possible, or are things already too tight?

It would be a crazy amount of work. Your best bet would be to get some Cadillac seats and see if you can either use the core or just use that seat all together and create a system to work with them.

^ that would be cool to do also.

There has to be a way to get hvac piping to go into the back area and the seat cushion

I just Googled "car seat cooler" and there are some 12-volt cooling options that people have come up with. It seems a little ridiculous to me, but if people want seat heaters, why not seat coolers too?

I really can't see it working too well unless you go with a liquid cooled setup in the back of the seat. Leather is going to bounce heat back onto you. If you run vents in the seat it's only going to cool whatever is immediately touching them since the air won't have room to spread.

I also think that AC piping would cause moisture/condensation issues.

My friends Saab has cooled seats. Each seat has a million tiny holes in it that I assume push out AC

As for the ducting idea my GP has a duct that goes under each of the front seats. Cooled seats also came up on my GP forum and somone added some more piping on to whats already there and somehow mounted it up to the seat and cut some of the foam out so the air could get up through the holes in the seat to be effective. Kind of cool idea to me.

Guys, I've worked in seating test lab for 15 years. I'll tell you what I know. First, your leather or fabris is going to need to be perforated in order to let that air pass through. Second, most of the OEM seats use a sucker fan. They don't blow cold AC air from underneath. They work on the principle of sucking the surrounding cabin air past you and out the bottom of the seat. At least most do. Some will still blow air. But most I have worked on suck. To be honest, I've sat in a few of them and they don't work all that great. Trust me I've wanted this option for many of years and I still have not seen one work well enough to add to my car or any other car for that matter. Good luck to you and if I can answer questions I will try.
