Does it pay to put my car in local car show
I will post a picture of my car but before I do that there is a car show August 7 in Central WI. I was thinking about entering my car in the show in the 1993 to 2002 class. I don't have much done to the car and could do some little extras I just purchased new half whistler headlights and smoke bumper lights. WHat else should Ido to the car to get it ready and do I have any chance in an area slim on nice cars that I know of. Let me know I will take all opinions even though I may not like some anything helps. I don't have money for anything big like a hood or drop but some small things I could do would help. Here is the picture.

Judges only care about appearance mods, not what you have under the hood. A buddy of mine bought a bone stock 06 gt, put a front lip on it, blacked some stuff out here and there, and won first place, and it's a ford, WITH stock wheels?!

Why not enter its probably not more then 15$.......
depends on how the show is judged to. Peoples choice is alot different then a judged show.
Entered a vette show with my dads old vette and they knit picked everything. From the rocks in the tread of the tires to some dust behind the glass of the gauage clusters.
I think of a show as jsut another cruise night but you have to pay lol

If its a 1000 point or something similar I wouldnt even enter if I had to pay and even then only if I was bored that day lol. If its just a regular free donatiom or 15$ or less show I would do It. Kills 3-4 hours and some door prizes are ok plus1st usually gets some cash and a nice detail kit etc.
It Is harder winning serious car shows than drag racing Imo.. and I consider my car pretty nice and well kept.

i used to judge car shows like a decade ago, the majority of points come from cleanliness. If your car is only midly modified (appearance wise), then the majority of points will come from if your car is spotless or not. If you're in a decent size show with alot of different classes, then you can get in a "mild" category, which is mostly cleanliness.
I've seen shows where in the wilder classes were won by cars with far less mods, simply because they spent more time detailing the vehicle.
Also judged some shows where the 2 main category differences were "show cars" and "street cars", where with street cars we skipped judging the cleanliness of the undercarriage.
Those yellow headlights would def lose points in either type of categories.

As has been said- enter because you want to have fun... Not because you expect to win. I did that once with my 57 Pontiac that was a factory Tri Power car and was beat by a 65 Impala lowrider on gold wires in the stock class!
After that I accepted that competing at shows wasn't for me but I still had fun being part of it. If I got a trophy it was certainly exciting but never expected.
