Default 2000 camaro ss convertible to hardtop/hatchback conversion

..lets say, there's a 2000 convertible ss sitting around..then lets say there's a completely stripped 2001 hardtop/hatch back body sitting around...and you wanted to pull the convertible body and drop the hardtop body on it's chassis...could it be done?..why or why not

No chassis it's a unibody car. Would have to switch all the parts over.

wouldnt it be easier to cut the hard top off and replace the vert stuff with the hardtop and weld? or efforts not worth the $$$$?

with a uni-body there is no "frame" per-say. The body pretty much more or less has the frame built into it. If you look under a truck or an older big body car you will see frame rails under it. the body sits on the frame rails and everything else bolts to the frame. On a uni-body car everything bolts to the cars body. There is however a subframe attached to the front of a unibody car hence subframe connectors. This is why convertibles weigh more than coupes, they need more bracing to hold up. You get much more flex out of a unibody car than a full frame car, but a full frame car weighs a **** ton more. OP I feel like your best bet, if the hardtop is in good shape, is to just swap everything over to it. With a lift, the right tools, and determination you could get it done in a couple of weekends. Basically to sum up what i just said, there is no frame to pull the body off of, the only thing you could pull the body off of is the front cradle or subframe.

step 1, swap interior over, including dash and dash harness,
step 2, swap engine bay stuff over including front and engine harnesses
step 3, conversion finished.

Pretty much everyone else covered it. Why are you wanting to swap anyway?

Only other way is to cut out the entire roof from the t-top car and weld it on the vert but really, that's a ton of work. It would be worth it to save the vert SS than to chop, weld stuff on it...or find a roller. Ohh I hope they are both Camaros...
