Default Tahoe 95% correction and Opti-Guard (28hrs)

Completed yesterday (oct 23rd)

After a few phonecalls with the owner we set a consultation appointment. Upon inspecting the vehicle it was obvious another shop "attempted" to detail it and didn't quite get it right. Horrific wash-induced swirls a moderate amount of holograms and buffer trails covered this once nice black Tahoe. This client has an eye for these imperfections as well and wanted it to look factory new again. After discussing the time involved we set a weekend to carry out the correction. During the course of the detail it was decided to permanently protect the freshly corrected paint with Optimum Opti-Guard.

Correction process was some rotary/M105/PFW in select areas. Everywhere else was PCXP/M105+D300/MF cutting disc, followed by PCXP/Menzerna SIP/LC orange. This finished down beautifully with zero micromarring and zero swirls. Only a handful of RIDS survived this correction as they would require wetsanding to remove, which was not selected for this job. All said and done, 28 long hours went into this one. Onto the pics....

We start with wax/compound in nearly every crevice on the vehicle....fun

The obligatory "before" shot

The 50/50 shot that sold 2 neighbors on getting their Escalade and BMW done.

Properly corrected looking "ship shape" again.

Before

After correction

Before

After corrections

Before

After right side fully corrected

Another example of a "quality" detail shop that attempted buffing the rear bumper....not failing once, but twice with burning through the edges.

Onto the driver's side....

Better....

More examples of work from this previous "quality" shop....buffer trails and holograms mixed with copious amounts of swirls.

After compounding....

After final polishing

Body shop painted the bumper and left these DA pigtails behind....all the way through to the plastic...

Hood front edge before...

After compounding...

After correction it was taken out in the sun to verify results before washing off all the compounding and polishing dust in preparation for the Opti-Guard coating.

Polishing oils being stripped during final wash

Success....total lack of beading

Sun had already set, but here are the finished pictures.

Thanks for reading!

Most Tahoes, especially LTZ models have the step bars. Without them it looks taller.

Damn... Great work bro. I wish I could afford to get my car detailed. Then again, I wish my car was actually worth getting detailed.

Ah didn't even notice those were missing! I actually like the looks of it a lot better without them. Slick looking

Very nice work!

How well does that Opti-Guard hold up? I was thinking about looking into something like that for a DD. I was thinking about getting one applied to a car that I want to keep nice but don't really want to go through the effort of applying a sealant and wax multiple times a year if it isn't really necessary to have a show-car finish look.

Great work as always Jeff! Those are some of the worst swirls I've ever seen. Black doesn't lie.

God I think I did almost as good as you. Except my car doesn't nearly have as much swirling. I'm getting there keep your eye out for a correction thread for my car. I want you to critique it! I already got the hood done and it's nearly perfect-o! Probably need a wool pad in some areas possibly...

Sorry for

Saw your post on DetailingBliss, Great job! I know what it takes to do a job like that with that much paint.

I cringe when I see those corners burnt through.
