Default Powder Coated SS 10 spokes

Alright guys, this is what my rims used to look like:

As you can tell the edges were chipped from Pepboys doing an alignment on my car. The wheels were just painted with auto body paint. I ended up getting Pepboys to pay for the damage so I found a powder coater in town that would do all 4 rims for $325. He said he would strip them and coat them. Seemed like a good deal. I gave him my rims on Tuesday and said I needed them back ASAP since this left my car on blocks and me without a DD. He sent me a pic today saying he would have them to me tomorrow, and this is what I got:

Anyone see the issue? The inside barrel is not done at all... He swears this is how he does ALL of his wheels, claiming he has done wheels for cars that have been in Barrett Jackson and supposedly did some coating on Elvis Presley's convertible... To me this is not ok, but he isn't budging saying this is how all of his wheels are done and it is my opinion that they aren't done right. So now I am about to get 4 wheels back, pay $325, and have to rattle can the inside of the rim to make it look right. He swears that the uncoated inside will make it look better, but I'm not seeing it. He says you "cant see the inside of the wheel anyone, so it is wasteful to coat the inside..."

Anyone else think this is stupid? I'm going to put them on the car without doing anything to them and look long and hard at them. If I dislike it I guess I'll rattle can with some gloss black or plastidip.

Kinda not a big deal, but not sure why he wouldn't just coat the whole wheel. Like you said just spray a coat of paint on the barrel and move on, gonna be coated in brake dust anyhow.

Guess it will teach you with bargain shopping sometimes you get what you pay for.

Well the guy had a few pics he showed me of some ZR1 wheels he did, some other things, and it looked really nice. The other places in town wanted $300/set, but they couldn't promise it would be done in a timely manner.

yeah having to do any kind of work done while the car is a DD is PITA.
I had to pay premium to get some of things done since I needed car fixed up for work days.

No one else really is going to peek inside the wheel barrels to see if they are powder coated or just painted. I'd just spray 'em with rattle can.

The SS wheels we had done last year were powder coated inside. Actually the back and inside looked as good as the finish on the face of the wheel. I would not be too happy about this. Whaddya do though, if claims he thats whats done for the money quoted, your kinda stuck. Sucks though.

Turns out the inside of the barrel was done... just not in gloss black, just a flat black. Still kinda an odd way to do it, but whatever. Here is how they turned out:

I think it looks good. I would get some black lugnuts to go with it.

^When I got them originally I thought about black lugs, but I wanted something that would break up all the black of the rim and the tire.

I would be upset. My powder coater made sure I didn't mind him not coating the inside of the wheel, where the tire would cover. The face and inner barrel are coated exactly the same.

^^ Yup, same with me, excepy my guy did the outer rim too. That way it's just easier and no masking. They came out sexy too. Thesea re from about 4 years ago:

I was pretty pissed, I'm still not completely happy but I refuse to deal with him again. Anyone living near Pensacola, Fl should NOT use Kent Powder Coating.

I wish the inside of the barrel was gloss black b/c when it was before powder coating it just gave a nice look. They still look nice now, just done "pop" on the inside like they used to.

Looks good OP. I wouldn't worry about it to much because even if they were painted on the inside as well, in about a month they would look like they do now due to the brake dust making them look dull.

Sommer- Seeing your 10 spokes is making me want to have my C5's powered, haha. They look good also.
