Default Another projectors retrofit.

After massive research and reading I've finally decided to retrofit Morimoto H1 projectors into my stock housing. my headlights are pretty destroyed so I thought whats the worst that could happen? lol I will leave you with the pics

Materials used:

1500 gritt sandpaper
polishing compund
plastix polish
paste wax
rubber weather stripping

Lights to use:

Generic Morimoto H1
5000k HIDs
---------------------
Light output...no wonder why i cant see at night!!!!

without lenses to give an idea of how dirty those lenses were.

AND the results

The projectors and HIDs will arrive tomorrow. i will update this with in the next 48 hours with the final product on the car i cant wait!!

PS: Special thanks to: 78_elky, 98 WS6 and thecobrahunter. without their help i wouldnt even start this

Are the bulbs seated in the projector properly? That pattern looks off, the light spread should be more even without the hot spot in the center. Could just be the camera though.

Any pictures of how much was cut away on the headlight housing and how the projectors sit in there?

good eye sir. all the pics were taken with a DSLR except the last ones i used my stupid fone since the camera is not around anymore. the light is even but i think there is a lot more to it if get a quality HID kit. maybe ill look into that in the near future.

no pictures sorry. what i did is cut VERY little from the inside until it is flush with the housing. then the projectors just sit in there and bolted in place. pretty straight forward once you get into it

its not a kit. i bought each one alone. those are generic projectors. and ebay hids. quality hids would be TONS better. those are all under 100$ its well worth it but if you have the money i highly recommend a quality projectords and hids.

How do people meeting you on the road respond? Do you get a lot of your-lights-are-on-bright flashes?

Part of the reason for projectors is to totally avoid that as it keeps the light out of traffic.

Or crappy ones. Or they weren't even projectors.

If you were to put the HIDs in a halogen projector that would glare quite a bit. A lot of people buy the cheap replacement housings on ebay with the halos, leds, and "projectors" and then they put HIDs in them. They still work but they are never going to perform the same as a real HID projector.

nop, thats the reason I have projectors. I have also let my friend drive it behind me, infront of me and it looked fantastic.

exactly.

maybe because our cars are too low and we literally sit below the cutoff line of the projectors.

I myself sometimes get blinded by the oncoming traffic. but those cars are actually '13 nisaan patrols for example. they sit so high, even being behind me is blinding.

argeed. if am going to do it again with a low budget i would get a broken headlight out of a bmw or lexus and start from there..that should be a lot cheaper.

Quick Reply: Another projectors retrofit.
