Engine bay pics
Finally it's my turn to post pics. So I entered my first car show last weekend, and let me say I've got a hell of a lot more appreciation for the amount of work required to get a spotless car. In some ways I'm not happy with how it turned out (the car was still pretty dirty) but in other ways I couldn't be happier, considering what I started with.
Things I still want to do: paint the intake, polish the AC condenser, polish/paint/?? the water pump, !wire mod, maybe some nice hose ends if I really get ambitious... Those'll have to wait 'til next winter, now it's time for drivin'.
Click the pics to get a larger version.
This is what the car looked like before I started - this last pic was taken in Oct. 2003 after I'd parked it for the winter. Before you flame me for neglecting the thing, realize that up here in northern Alberta sand & gravel from the winter are left on the road until June, and with the dry summer dust was everywhere. Making things worse was the snowstorm I had to drive through the day before I parked it.

Oh how true is this! But I did get a good compliment yesterday.
I took my car to get the oil changed, and the tech came in and
asked me if this was a daily driver. I said yeah, why? He said,
damn, that's one clean engine, how do you keep it that way?
Made my day!

Nice! What did you use to plug the hole on the driver's side of the airlid? And where did you get the filter for the hose that used to come out of it? I'd like to do that to mine, having that hose come off the airlid bugs the **** out of me...
