Default Valve Covers -What's a good color to paint them?

I painted my valve covers, but I'm not sure I like the color.

Anyone have any recommendation or pics of a good color?

I'm trying to not make it obvious that they've been painted....

I guess a better question is what color would most closely match the bare cast aluminum as it comes from the factory?

Silver or gray. Not a metallic. If you want the cast aluminum look.

I think they look great satin black. They look cleaner than they are if the car gets used a lot and yet they don't jump out and draw too much attention to themselves.

Gunmetal wheel paint also looks great either as sprayed or with some clear.

I've seen a lot of the wrinkle black and it looked good....seemed to match the stock intake manifold.

Mine were stained, I guess. I tried to clean them, then I ended up prepping them priming and using Seymour Cast Blast-cast aluminum. They look new, and stock.

This is how I painted mine and they came out looking awesome. I also took the coils off the brackets and painted the brackets navy blue metallic to match the car. When I put the coils back on I used stainless button head bolts. I'll try to get some pics on here later today.

I did the valve covers satin black, the coil brackets satin black (including the harness plug, that gray/white stood out like a sore thumb), then did the coils in gunmetal with stainless cap screws. It's all subtle but clean looking.
