Default Painted headlights

I followed whistler's write up.

I used Krylon Fusion gloss black paint. I think it turned out very well. What do you think?

I have been meaning to do this for weeks now, but keep coming up with excuses on why putting my expensive headlights in the oven isnt the brightest thing I can do. Any tips for the oven part of the project? Planning on doing it this weekend if I go get the supplies.

Thanks
Fry

yeah, its nothing complicated. the lenses just dont come off too easily. i did this mod, and it changed the appearance of my entire front end it seems. it looks much sleeker, and meaner. now i just have to polish my lenses so they look as good as yours. looks great!

I had them in the oven at 200 for 20 minutes each. Which wasn't enough to get the lenses off so I put the light back in for another 5 minutes and tried again. The second one took 10 minutes extra, and the first one took a bit longer. Just be careful when trying to pry the lens off with a knife.

I did the mod myself a few weeks ago, it came out really nice. I DID almost shatter my housing and I have a pretty nice spiderweb crack in it from trying to seperate the lense but you cant really see it. Other than that it went well, I was just surprised by how brittle the housing was, make a note of that for those of you who plan to do the mod. I only decided to do the mod since Im buying halos pretty soon anyway.

I guess I'd have to see it in person. Just doesn't seem like enough of a difference to warrant the hassle.

How can you not see the difference?? One is chrome and the other is black.

Nice work!

I didn't say I couldn't see the difference. Jack and I both said we couldn't see that much of a difference. Like I said, without seeing it in person, it doesn't look like enough of a change to warrant the hassle of baking my perfectly good headlights in an oven.

It would have to be a drastic change for me too, to warrant that much work. I've seen some that were more obvious, but that is just too close too the original appearance of the headlights imo.
