Default Has anyone smoothed and painted their cowl?

I'm really sick of this damn plastic cowl. It always gets dull looking in a couple of weeks and then it's a bitch to reshine the whole thing. I'm thinking of skim coating it and then painting it semi gloss black this winter. Has anybody done this? Any pics I can see?

Thanks,
Andrew

ive done it on my car, but i havent even taken any pics. i took out the black grill and filled in the holes and the "camaro" indentations in the bumper itself, then repainted it silver .i will be up in laconia this coming week, so if your around, maybe we'd be able to meet up somewhere if you wanted to see it

Yeah, let me know when your coming up. I should be able to make time around work and family bullshit to check it out.

Did you do the cowl too or just the grill?

There seems to be some confusion.
The cowl piece to which he referes is the plastic piece at the base of the windshield, where the wipers are located. I haven't painted mine, but I have seen it done.

How did it look? I think it can look good but it has to be done right. I'm not sure if I should do it gloss black or semi gloss. Seems like the gloss black would stick out to much and would not look like it was from the factory. But then again it would match the roof.

It looked good. It was completly smoothed out, not rough/lumpy/textured like it normally is. I dont remember if it was gloss or satin though.

Hmm...I'll have to play around with it this winter. I suppose almost anything I did would look better than it does now.
